Look, if JM doesn't come off today, there's the tea lady just itching to have a go, could be interesting!!
Seems most are being pragmatic with this one. I get it, oddly seems safer than many other options despite him just losing his job. Need someone cheery and positive with a clear game plan. How will Paul fit in?
Also, when Jones was appointed it was a huge "what the actual ****?" reaction for me (and pretty much everyone else). My first thought this time is that there is logic to this appointment. We need that new manager bounce this time though.
Biggest concern is people will be on his case straight away because of being recently sacked / just generally how terrible we have been for a long time and in British football there is a strong anti-American sentiment (I can see this being more pronounced in Yorkshire than down sarf though). In ordinary circumstances this would be underwhelming, but fact is we are a bin fire at the moment and it isn’t an attractive job. Marsch has Red Bull pedigree, is a positive character and imo despite being sacked has performed better than Ralph or Agitated Nathaniel this season so far.
Can't say I'm too enthused given his recent sacking at Leeds, but it at least isn't a manager on the WTF scale like he-who-must-not-be-named. I can see the logic behind it.
Fate dictates that Marsch will inspire us to a last day victory over Liverpool to send Leeds down and keep us up.
I'm very excited to see Sulemana in a Marsch team. Look at Gnonto. He's probably more raw than Sulemana and he's developed tremendously under Marsch.
Welcome Jesse. Not my first choice but think people need to be aware of just how in the sh1t we are - and if he’s agreed to hang around in the Championship (I’m assuming we end up there) then that’s a bit of a coup, in theory. At least with this appointment I can see the logic of why you’d choose him and feel he fits well stylistically and in terms of club philosophy.
PS: I’m gonna keep my mind pretty clear about JM’s sacking at Leeds, given that Pochettino arrived after being sacked with Espanyol bottom of La Liga and with his only other prior managerial experience being in women’s football.
The only thing that has ever worried me about Bazunu, is that he might go backwards with us. I think he's already a better keeper than we've had at any time since Boruc, but our defence has been consistently dogshit for years now, and playing behind that would shake any keeper's confidence.
Only caveat is that he was a bit rubbish at Leipzig too, but like you, clean slate time. At least I like the bloke.
I don’t hate the appointment and would rather Marsch than the vast majority of the other candidates being touted.
Having thought about it some more. I've written this season off as relegation as I dont see any other outcome now. And if you said we'd start next season in the championship with Marsch as manager I'd be more than happy.
I find this mad. He barely saves anything. Barely catches any crosses. I think he’s more of a problem than the defence. Welcome Jesse. You don’t have to do much to improve upon the last guy. Just please pick the best players instead of your mates.
