Should have been left with us to develop a bit more and get plenty of minutes under his belt playing off another striker,I reckon with the recall that Everton have knocked him back a good development wise

He has a tendency to shoot when are defenders in front of him and no real chance of scoring, it's really annoying and doesn't fit the way we're playing.

Roberts, against Reading, could've just lashed the ball but he dropped his shoulder, put the defence and keeper on their arse and scored easily.

Simms doesn't do the intricate passing of the rest of the team and doesn't challenge fiercely enough for such a big man ...

... if he'd come here I doubt he'd have started many games and I prefer to watch us play without him.

I know he's an 'outball' but he doesn't hold it up well enough or make the right passes imo.

He’s only going to get better with game time as we witnessed, Everton have ****ed him over massively imo.

He’s not a premier league player yet. Also needs players a lot closer to him than Everton were last night. Certainly good enough to play in the championship though. Where he should’ve been left!

Don’t think he’s that good to be honest.

I do. I’m honestly not sure he’ll ever be good enough for the premier league. But his goals return in the championship is good and he’s had a hand in a could very special goals too, just an opinion mind

You are probably right. I just see a lad who doesn’t look to bothered even when he scores.

He was on a hiding to nothing last night, I'd have him back in our team in a heartbeat, even it was off the bench, remember the blackburn game at the SOL.

Absolutely spot on. If Simms was part of a fully fit squad here at the moment, I think he'd be on the bench, contributing for sure, but not a guaranteed starter. That's where he is right now, and it's no disrespect to him, just reality. I'd have him back as part of our squad in a heartbeat.

But the main point is, that he's not a target man. He struggled to link up play when we used him as a lone striker and that was us playing a much less direct game than Everton attempted last night. I'm not sure there's many strikers in the game that could have been effective as a target man for Everton last night in the way they played.

I noticed Gary Neville at half time mention that he wasn't getting regular starts here and that he wasn't sure what Everton were expecting of him playing up front on his own with no support

There's no blame on us, Everton are a shambles at the moment.

I really don't like that club.

I think the comment from Neville was more aimed at Everton rather than us and I suppose he had a point - how can a player that was sent out on loan to get experience and to "learn his trade" be expected to lead the line after a handful of games in a few months

The lad is still learning the trade , playing at championship level is where he is . He was unfortunate with picking up injuries but still managed to contribute seven goals , think he gave us a different option at times but has to contribute on an ongoing basis to warrant a place in the side . I think if he was available at the right price TM would have him back in the hope he progresses , with good coaching and good players around him he could become a handy player .

Totally agree, not willing to write the lad off after being thrown in at the deep end in a merseyside derby due to the ineptitude of his parent club.

Because they played him as a target man when he isn't one.

Bit harsh. His tendency to shoot early has paid off against Bristol City, QPR & Blackburn, not to mention being in the right place at the right time v Wigan/Millwall. I'd say we are a better squad with him than without.
He's not a target man and that is the issue Dyche has when using him in a 4-5-1
