Seeing as we've been in the top 6 ever since the start of the season, that isn't really true. Expectation is to build and improve from this season, finishing top 4 would be a good result.
Basically this. It depends on how strong we finish this season. If we can finish top 6 then we can get in some better squad players. If we miss it I feel we might have a difficult ish time getting better players.
Always struggle to follow the logic of buying a ‘better squad’ player. Just buy someone for the first team and drop the first team player then get rid of the squad player. Makes more sense.
200% depends on signings. If we pick our targets now, get the people in and spend some real money, we have a damned good 11 on our hands. If we fart about chasing a single player for an entire window we will finish 12th - 15th with this squad and European football.
I guess it could still be anyone to get in ahead of Murphy on the sub's bench. I mean literally ANYONE.
That was the case with Ashley when we dared to get into Europe against his wishes. Ain't gonna happen this time though.
If we get European football, I think next season will be a baptism of fire. The investment required to keep us competitive, in any way, will be monumental and I'm not convinced we are there commercially. All part of the build but the quick jump we appear to have made might bring us down a peg once we factor in the additional matches. Top 10 and a run in any competition would be great, bearing in mind what happened to West Ham
It's always the danger of qualifying for Europe. Equally, it will boost our revenue - and therefore benefit our FFP status - plus we'll be more attractive to potential signings if they know we are in Europe, so you have to go for it.
As it stands we’ve really stuttered and look like we’re not yet equipped to deal with the PL and a League Cup run over a full season. Man U have the likes of Martial, Sabitzer, Elanga, Garnacho, Malacia, Dalot not in the team, their drop off from first team to squad is manageable. We go into Championship players after the first substitute, and that’s with our strongest squad available.
True but the cash injection won't be sufficient to bolster immediately. Also if its EL rather than CL, the difference in money is rather stark
The additional games will be tough and we'll need 5-6 extra players at least to deal with the extra games. I have a feeling even if we finish 4th this season, we'll probably not next season. I think we'll finish around 6-7th.
"Really stuttered" is apparently losing one league game out of 22 Sorry but the Victor Meldrew ****e does not pass simply because facts prove otherwise. We see with the example of Chelsea that a huge expensive squad doesn't guarantee success, and we also see with the example of Arsenal that a huge squad is not necessary needed, ie everyone's been saying from the start that their title challenge will fall away with injuries, but it hasn't happened. Saying we're not equipped to deal with a league and cup run over a season is utter bollocks cos we're 4th in the league and in the final of the cup now, and our current concern is because of suspension, not an injury.
From what angle? Himself and his ability to manage us through it, or the fans belief in him? I believe he will stick to his style, his way of coaching and his management throughout. Lots of running, high press, fast passing game, playing outwide cutting in. The fans will turn as soon as we are 13th or something.
