Good Morning. It's Monday 13th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds have found their man but the fans aren't happy

Odds of Alfred Schreuder taking the reigns at Leeds Utd, dropped dramatically yesterday, after being pictured at Elland Road yesterday. The 50yo is looking for work, having been fired after a miserable twelve months in charge at Ajax.

He has spent most of his Managerial career in the Eredivisie League, and has had five appointments since 2018, prompting both anger and disbelief from Leeds fans that the ER hierachy would consider such a Manager. At 1/5, it would take a brave person to bet against these odds.

Leeds have forgotten how to win

Leeds slipped to their eleventh league defeat of the season yesterday, as two late Manchester Utd goals destroyed the good work Michael Skubala's side had built upon for the majority of the game. To their credit, Leeds had the lions share of the chances but either fluffed their lines in front of goal, or chose an impossible angle to shoot from, with the goal keeper odds on to make the save.

The visitors were poor for the majority of the game, but the Whites failed to take advantage, it was like Leeds have forgotten how to win. Their next two games (away to Everton, and home to Southampton) could define both their season, and future, as another stint in the Championship would spell disaster for the Whites.

Leeds had 16 shot at goal to Manchester Utd's 11, (and more shots on target too) yet the visitors chances seemed more clinical, including Meslier superbly denying Fernandez one on one, after a rare error from Wober, and Dolot's effort which rocked the woodwork, with the Leeds shot stopper routed to the spot.

Saying that, Leeds carved open enough opportunities to at least draw the game, but fell apart in the last ten minutes following Rashford's predatory header. Garnacho's strike five minutes later was a cruel reflection on how the rub of the green rarely goes in the favour of clubs at the wrong end of the table.

Leeds must rid themselves of the scum element

The Premier League has condemned the chanting relating to historic tragedies during yesterday's 2-0 defeat at Elland Road. Leeds Fans were heard chanting about the Munich Air Disaster, which claimed 23 people lives in 1958, whilst Reds fans were equally at bad for crooning about the sickening events in Istanbul, almost 23 years ago.

The hatred between the two sides at either side of the Pennines is well documented, and I suppose trouble was inevitable, yet we must remember we don't live in the 70's of 80's. This is 2023, and football is no longer confined to the stereo typical working class young male, intent on drinking, causing trouble, and creating a fearful atmosphere for your opponents, and their fans.

Their's enough camera's at every Premier League club to root out the scum element, but clubs CHOOSE not to, which makes an entire mockery of the 'kick it out' campaign, designed to rid football of both racism and discrimination. According to the Premier League:-

“The Premier League condemns the chanting heard during today’s match between Leeds United and Manchester United. The League is treating the issue of tragedy chanting as a priority and as a matter of urgency.” Leeds also released a statement after their 2-0 defeat. It read: “Both clubs strongly condemn chanting from both sets of fans regarding historic tragedies at today’s game."

“Such behaviour is completely unacceptable and we will continue to work together with our respective fan groups and the Premier League, and other authorities on eradicating it from football.” Manchester United won 2-0 at Elland Road thanks to second-half goals by Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho. Erik ten Hag’s side moved up to second while Leeds, who are without a first-team manager, are just one point above the relegation zone."

There is a lot of humour in football chants but conversely there is far too much vile ****e sung by a minority at all clubs.

With all the CCTV around grounds these days what the clubs should be doing is naming and shaming them. Stick their ugly, vile faces on big screens at all matches. Might make some of them think about what they are saying although very much doubt that sort of person is capable of rationale thought process the ****ing knuckle dragging morons.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Going to start with the least important element of this thread, the nasty chants. I don’t give a toss and the more the PC media and and corporate PR people get involved the more it will go on. Its just part and parcel of our national sport. Yes it might get quieter every year but something else will replace these chants over time. Plenty of fans have a song about Turkey because they know it’s a sore wound for us, but we give back plenty. Highlighting this issue just winds people up.

Now very embarrassing on the head coach front. If it is to be the famous Dutch nobody then we have to hope he keeps us up. Lets face it even Skibby should be able to keep this squad up so we should be ok

What's wrong with being a working class male in the 70's...not everyone was a drunken thug intent on carnage it was a great era of fantastic footballers, passion, atmosphere and some blood and thunder games along with the music to boot...why is it that people seem to think the past was ****e all the time it's like today is seen as utopia in comparison....put the shutters down on your office my son some boot boys might still be lurking ;).....

Morning All. Sounds like another manager disaster waiting to happen imo. Once upon a time we were a top 4 club that could attract the best managers. We have to now accept that we arent that club anymore due to our substancial fall from grace. Only time will increase our reputation, but with a ****e manager in place I cant see that happening some time soon at all.

Great performance from the lads yesterday until they scored, then heads went down as usual. We were the better team by miles for 70ish minutes. I would have taken any points though from the two scum games, so 1 is better than nothing. Next up is Everton away. We need to get 3 points in the bag asap, and Dyche's team will put 10 men behind the ball. so if we get some luck (Of which we havent had any for a long time) we may get some points.

Next two games need at least 4 points imo. Ideally 6. We just need to remember how to win Prem matches again, as I am sure we have the talent from our last two outings. Best i've seen them play since Ted came in and went in the last two games. Luke Ayling has been outstanding!

    Morning all.

After a long day on the beer yesterday just catching up on all the threads and comments after another disappointing defeat.

Regarding the Munich chanting it was a probably about a 100 or so in the South Stand who sang it first. Then about 10 mins later Man U fans responded with chants of Instanbul which lead to the majority of the South Stand then doing the aeroplanes and a more full rendition.

Time we moved on from such things.

    Morning all

The latest name doesn't fill me with much confidence if I'm being honest.

Regarding yesterday. Yes it was a defeat but we went toe to toe.with the inform team in the Premier League yesterday and only lost by 2 goals. Even with a fully fit Bielsa squad we were losing by 5 or 6 goals. We've come out of a 2 goal run against Scum a Team we haven't beaten in 12 years with a point. Where I'm stood that's not a bad thing.

I'm now looking at the next few games.with a bit of confidence.

On to the chants. Isn't it time we all grew up on this front. Munich was decades agos it's there something new we can come up with

Morning all. Sick of the Monday feeling of we should have got something out of that game. OK it's better than getting the stuffings of a year ago and immensely proud of both performances against scum but not translating into points and that's all that matters. Well have a far better idea of our fate in two weeks. Should have some manager in place and let's face it, anything less than four points in next two games will be goodnight to the pl.Both Everton and Southampton will attempt to stifle us, we have to find a way to score first and hold onto it. The debacle with the board and attempted new appointment, to be expected really. Re the chants, every club has a scummy element, just have a look on twitter during and after games every weekend. Chelsea and West Ham fans fighting this weekend. If there really was a will to change it the authorities would

I’m not known for my political correctness. I understand opposing views on the BLM stuff that’s had people grinding their teeth etc… but this stuff? mocking people dying? Turkey and Munich chants are just vile.

As Jammy says, time to move on. I like chanting at a game it’s great for atmosphere… but there’s plenty of other material they could chant at each other.

Can Everton get something tonight at Anfield ?

Whilst they'd need a win to go above us a draw would still be seen as an excellent result for them. Meanwhile Liverpool are currently out of sorts and looking to regain their air of superiority but look a million miles away from doing so.

The merseyside derby will likely as ever be predictably unpredictable.

Liverpool only lost once at home this season (not sure who beat them???)

Good home record against Everton who only have 1 recent win there when no fans were allowed. Going for a narrow home win. Don't want to play them reacting to a 4-0 thrashing

I agree with whoever was the main contributor but Keown is a dick. Sean Dyche doing a good job at Everton.....they've only played (and won) one game. Liverpool to chew the toffees up and spit them out tonight.

Phew....at least he can be crossed off the list....

Huddersfield Town have reappointed Neil Warnock for his second spell as manager, with the 74-year-old coming out of retirement to take charge.

Seems that the club became aware last night of the fans reaction to this guy and by this morning shat it and pulled the plug

Firefighter in to stop the rot and survive, then get the manager we want fro close season. 1 from the three main contenders we have appraoched would be great
