He’d certainly bring a bit of bite which we’re definitely lacking .

Utter speculation on my part, but I do really get the sense that there's a split between Semmens and Ankersen. I don't think Semmens ever wanted or liked Jones, he was very, very much Ankersen's choice (despite what he said at the forum) and that Semmens would have got rid earlier (or wouldn't have gone for him in the first place, more likely).

With Ankersen having royally cocked that appointment up, I wonder how much the power dynamic might have shifted with regard to the new recruitment process.

I get the feeling, and again, speculation on my part, but if Marsch is our number one choice and has been of interest to us longer than SR have been here, then I wonder if Semmens is, not so much leading it, but having more of an input. Because he wasn't involved with appointing Jones very much at all, and it showed.

I've thought the same myself, not so much that there's a split but more that Semmens has become side lined but has to put on a united front for decisions he wouldn't have made himself. All conjecture of course but when Ralph was doing well Semmens had a good relationship with him and they seemingly had a shared plan of where they were going. He always impressed me in his honest interviews and I thought of him as an important asset to the club. Now I'm not sure what the plan is and Semmens more likely to walk or be shown the door.

We always need a positive influence in the dressing room.

    Sorry.

It's interesting. Pundits often seem to be clueless about clubs outside the top 6 but what's been said about Saints over the last couple of weeks has been pretty fair.

Probably get told what to say. Gary Neville just admitted that Brentford away was the first time he’s watched Saints this season.

They do. All analysis is provided for them. Most are relatively clueless (hence the clip shown where neither have the vaguest clue about the coaching side)

"Those who are a little older, Leicester City won the Premier League." Is he coaching the U13s? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Seriously though, he does remind me a little of Ralph when saying we should be horrible to play against when not in possession.

I think Rooney will probably have a decent managerial career. He did a very good job at Derby under extremely tough circumstances.

He certainly didn't rely on his name to get a releatively cushty first managerial job like Gerrard and Lampard (Lampards Derby was very different circumstance).

But i don't think he is the man to takeover this late in the season and get us out of this scrap, especially so early in his career.
