They may as well add ‘LTL’ to that list.

TBF I'd be ok with Gerrard. Did a great job at Rangers (his two successors haven't come close to his success in the SPL) and would add fight and steel to the team with his personality. Lampard can **** off though.

Gerrard would be an unpopular choice, but not really sure why?

Probably because of how his Villa spell ended. They looked bloody awful.

I know most of you wouldn't. but I see no issues with Rooney. Used to be a prat (IMO), then turned himself around to be England & Man Utd's top scorer. Did a good job at Derby on zero money in the Championship, until administration - he even kept going after that. Would command respect in the dressing room, though I would worry how his scouse accent would be understood by some lol.

I think he sees it as a 'keep us up he is a miracle man' 'if we go down watch me bring them back up'

To be fair, I am good with that.

Jones was such a low bar I am good with almost anyone.

    The only way is up!

I cannot imagine a better situation to take a job. Everyone has no expectations and we will all be happy just because it isn’t Jones. Relegation will not be their fault and anything achieved is a bonus.

It may or may not be a good appointment but there's definitely an odd look to it, which would create pressure on the manager and owners. You can already see that from this discussion last night:

Ok I’m not 100% sold on Marsch, but I would take him over Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney anyday.

My order of preference (of realistic targets and those touted)

    Gallardo
    Marsch
    Rooney
    Lampard
    Anyone but Gerrard

But this is SR, and we may get Phil Parkinson from non league Wrexham "If it is good enough for Hollywood A-listers, it is good enough for us".

Just for the sake of stirring, there’s a private jet from Croatia landing at Southampton today.

Gerrard, Rooney, Lampard. No thank you. Good assistants, but (apart from Lampard), not the brightest and certainly not going to cut it long term against some of the brains in the PL. They are the 'football people' that some people yearn for and actually know very little about the modern game at a coaching level. A friend was on the pro course with one and described them as 'clueless'. Carrick is actually about the only recent English ex pro that I would take a risk on. Good team around him too. Only issue is he's too inexperienced and hasn't had the mentor level that would be good.

Juric, Marsch, Bosz, Gallardo all fine for me. Juric especially due to his time with Gasperini.
