We've never been that great attacking wise, but our dominance comes from our rock hard defence and midfield energy. Last time we went on a run of drawing games we missed Bruno for quite a few games with injuries. Bruno's absence was definitely felt the last couple of games. 1. In terms of being tougher in possession 2. Especially in terms of having a playermaker who plays those little passes into the box for the likes of Almiron to run onto. No one else can really do that. Longstaff is OK at it but not the same level. 3. In terms of having someone that intercepts passes right around our 18 yard box. No one does this as well as Bruno. We look great when we have our best players fit, but our squad depth issues are quite clear. If we do make it into Europe this summer, we may need to spend a good 150m at least to get our squad prepared. Imagine if Schar or Botman get injured.
Bruno is a massive miss, everything goes through him. I worry about injuries, suspensions to others, our squad is weak. Stil, we’ve come an awful long way since last season. We shouldn’t forget that.
We look crap without Wilson also because isak can't hold up the ball... I don't care if the rest of his game is off you need him up there hes strong and lets the two cbs know he's there.
We need to start sogning our own Garnacho, Estupinan, Mitumo, Joao Gomez, etc. there’s no shortage of affordable players but we spend all our ****ing time NOT buying Maddison. It’s infuriating.
It's all part of the plan..... they'll not have changed the plan because of few games that went better than anticipated.
They start by having somebody who can spell players names correctly. Its much easier to find them then. Maybe they also had a very good Technical Director when they bought him in 2021.
We sign a lot of youth, but we need atleast 6 players who can be involved now. See where we finish this season, shame we will be losing in a final so soon
Why though? They start off poorly and they get slated. On our own match thread we had people saying this sort of thing with Anderson.
I'd like to see him in the 10 role, in a 4-2-3-1, behind Wilson. He drifts, and whilst he's got tonnes of ability is no good at hold up play. I think he can be a different 9 in given time, but at the moment he needs to be in a more protected role.
