I’d an early morning call from BBC Radio 5 Live before heading over to Elland Road in good time for the second of our back to back games against that team from over the Pennines. It was great to meet up with so many of our fans today including those from Malta, Ireland and Norway. As well as meeting some of our Danish fans at the game, it was nice to see both Jørn and Clark yesterday when they came to visit me at home to do an interview. Thank you for all the positive feedback regarding my Calendar/ITV interview last Monday as well as those liking my blogs and photos and as always, the support is greatly appreciated. Regardless of what happens on the pitch, our fans are what makes our club and gets a feel-good factor going. After our great performance both on and off the pitch at their place on Wednesday, I was hoping for the same today. After being caught on camera at old trafford and in the Yorkshire Evening Post taking photos, my granddaughter Hannah decided to take over with my camera for a bit today as she learns the ropes.

Team: Meslier, Ayling (captain), Adams, Koch, Wöber, Bamford, Harrison, Gnonto, Summerville, Firpo and McKennie.

Subs: Rutter for Bamford (58), Aaronson for Harrison (73), Greenwood for McKennie (86).

Subs not used: Robles, Kristensen, Joseph, Mullen, Gyabi, Monteiro.

    Leeds lost the game 2-0.

    Attendance: 36,919 with approx. 3,000-man u fans.

    Referee: Paul Tierney.

    Booked: Firpo, McKennie.

Leeds started out on the attack and showed they were up for the game with plenty of tackles going in. As Summerville’s shot went over the top of the goal at the South Stand, getting an early goal didn’t materialise, but not without trying. It was a battling performance where Leeds had most of the play and it was an encouraging display from the team. I’d like to know why VAR didn’t look at the “elbow” on Adams which resulted in him having to change his shirt which I assumed was because he was bleeding. Obviously, any chance to weaken their team with a sending off would have been a bonus for us. When man u did get through, it was great when the ball went wide of the goal, and we managed to keep them out with Meslier again making another great save to deny them. We had looked very solid at the back until we were too casual from a free kick just before the break. As they raced past our defence with only Meslier to beat, it looked like the would take an undeserving lead only for Meslier to pull out all the stops to deny them a goal scoring opportunity. It was good to hear the whistle blow for half time with us still on level terms.

I will never underestimate the opposition but as I said this morning, they are only a team from the other side of the Pennines! Despite them having enough quality in their side, I cannot stand the cheating and diving from namby pamby players and prima donnas. Get a grip and get on with playing football. Summerville brought a save out of their keeper as we came out meaning business at the start of the second half. Harrison and Koch had a go and Ayling’s shot was deflected for a corner. Ayling also had an overhead kick saved by their keeper as he looked determined to get on the score sheet. The one mistake I think we did make was subbing Bamford off and then Harrison. They were both getting chances although let down by last touches, but also brought some steel onto the pitch as they didn’t get bundled off the ball easily. Rutter and Aaronson were both a little lightweight in comparison in my opinion. This meant we weren’t able to hold on to the ball up front to give us some breathing space. As it was, man u showed that we couldn’t be complacent when they hit the crossbar. With Summerville having another chance that brought a save out of their keeper, thoughts of not making the most of our chances was always going to be the difference in the game. This turned out to be the case as they made the most of our tiring in the last quarter of the game to score twice to win the game. I was still very proud of the way the lads battled and took the game to them because at the end of the day, their squad cost millions of pounds more than ours. We did deserve to get something out of it but sadly, that’s football.

As we headed home, “don’t stop believing” came on the radio that had us singing along to it. Whatever happens in the coming months, we still have that hope things can turn around and there is no doubt in my mind that our loyal support will be behind them all the way.

Tomorrow, I will head to Leeds for the funeral of Big John from the Kippax branch who I’d known for a long time. As it will be a Leeds United theme, I will of course be wearing my colours and despite it being a sad occasion, it will be good to catch up with others there.

Tuesday will see me finally having my hip operation that has been cancelled twice before. Until it happens though I won’t take things for granted but please wish me luck as I aim to be at Everton on Saturday despite people telling me I won’t be able to go! See you there, LUFC – Marching on Together!

Hope everything goes ok tomorrow, Heidi. Please keep us updated on your recovery / pain / issues, if you don't mind. I have a vested interest, as I may be going down the same path myself.

Will do. I was hoping for a chilled out evening prior to going in but it's been manic. I can't eat anything after 8.00am so need to be up early to have something to eat as I've no idea what time I will be operated on. I've to be there for 1pm.

The hip operation had gone very well thank you. I’ve got a disability bay with a scooter for Saturday with a lift there and back do as not to over so things. Would be lovely for us to win there.

I'll await the match commentator saying, "what's this , there's a mobility scooter on the pitch, she thinks it's all over " etc.

Glad to hear everything has gone well

Why can I see a scene like out of Little Britain. Leeds score, Heidi jumps up out of her mobility aid and does a quick run up and down the steps fist pumping
