Had Social Media been in force in 1975 Lawrie Mac would have been hounded out, he was in a similar situation. The fact is we kept him on, speaks for itself, we won the FA Cup in May 76. No Mac no party.
I keep seeing people saying that it was “very avoidable” that we wouldn’t go down. I don’t see how people hve come to that conclusion and what they’re basing it on? Is our squad much better than many/any other PL teams? Are they saying that instead of spending the money on loads of kids we could’ve spent on experienced players? We have been one of the worst surviving PL teams for a number of years now so I’m not sure how going down was easily avoidable this year?
Didn't Ralph, who I see is benefitting from naval-gazing rose-tinted glasses amongst sections of the support, lose and not even register a shot on target against 9 men? It was that game, against Newcastle, when I really lost a lot of belief in him as a manager.
Has anyone said it is easily avoidable? Not that we can confirm 100%, but I suspect that a better manager could have put us in a better position by now with more of a fighting chance. Especially as they would have had 6 weeks with the team. Granted NJ did nothing with that, but I put that down to an anomaly!
Yep, not forgetting his stint at Stoke City, which wouldn't have gone unnoticed by any Saints fans. I don't feel sorry for Jones at all. Two sackings from high profile clubs in the space of just over 3 years means he is financially set for life. With that kind of money and very little ability, Jones shouldn't even think about managing another club, ever.
I would be happy with anyone that could give us a settled balanced team. 1 clean sheet in 22 clearly not good enough 18 goals in 22 clearly not good enough I don't know what our identity is anymore FWIW I would put money on Marsch getting the job. Not sure he is the answer.
I’m staggered by the increased Marsch talk. A manager sacked only a couple of weeks ago for not being good enough at Leeds, one of our direct rivals. Leeds fans couldn’t wait to see the back of him - thought he was tactically dreadful. If that happens, then Ankersen has pretty much single handedly engineered our relegation this season. Strangely impressive in its ineptitude. If I were Solak, he’d be out with a bootprint on his arse. Jason Wilcox can’t get here soon enough for me. Keep Ankersen away from it. Please.
I mean he doesn't have a great understanding of our language.. But i wonder if that could be to our Benefit.. Could come in with no expectation of keeping us up. If he does bonus, If not then he will have this next 15/16 games to settle in and learn the lanauge, Next yr to get us back up and use us to propel himself in Europe. WIn WIn really..
I was thinking about this earlier. Do the protocols regarding these things preclude the club from giving Wilcox a ring to see who he’d like us to appoint as manager? After all, from June he’ll be the new guy’s boss.
Benitez for me. Premier League and Championship experience. Good record and relationship with players. No recent bad job vibes.
One of the main gripes that Leeds fans had with Marsch was his incredibly narrow play, totally the opposite to the wide creativity of Bielsa. Yeah, sounds perfect for a squad with 347 wingers.
