Even when he signed for Arsenal I was proud to see Theo play well for Arsenal or get into the England team. I don't feel pride in Alex and I don't know why, because we developed him..I just feel ambivalent about him.

People saying that it's sour grapes,no it's simply because he doesn't deserve to play for the full England side yet! he hasn't even deserved to start for Arsenal in the premier league yet! so how the hell can he be deserving of a cap? it's a joke! He's simply getting a cap because he plays for Arsenal and because he's getting over-hyped,just like Theo Walcott did.

Good luck to the lad, if he is good enough he is old enough IMO. I don't feel any bitterness towards him, it's his life and was his decision to go and we got an unbelievable deal out of his transfer. I still believe that he is a better player than Theo and will be an England star for the next 12 years at least to say otherwise is just mean-spiritedness from Saints fans because they feel jilted. All the best Alex...<ok>

I think that's just time Fran. 4/5 years down the line, you'll probably feel proud for him.

When people say "good enough for England", what do they actually mean? Capable of making an impression or Engand's elite? Quite a few of the elite are ****ing useless in England shirts and we could do a lot worse than seeing if Chamberlain can hack it in a meaningless friendly. He can potentially offer something that others don't so I say go for it. Plus we get some money.

I do think we should go for youth even if it means forgetting about 2012. Being good enough for England is almost an insult at the moment.

I think it illustrates all you need to know about England when the young OXO is good enough to play for his country, yet not good enough to play for his club.

I don't care about England. Brazil are my national side now because they play football like my favourite team.

My apologies RLGB, as Arsenal are my 2nd team behind the might Saints it seems like so much more lol Wasn't long after he came on that it was 5-1, in fact it was a matter of 5 minutes after he came on that Utd we're 5-1 up so maybe that is where I am getting confused. Either way my point I feel is still valid as he came on at 3-1 and they conceded another 5 and only scored another 1, couldn't of made much of an impact when they did so much worse lol

Pretty unfair to judge him on that one given that Arsenal were so dire and Man U played very well. You can't expect a young kid to change a game that's already got away from them singlehandedly against one of the best teams in Europe on his Premier League debut. Talk about a baptism of fire.

Well, he's not in this squad, although the second game against Sweden could have been a good one for him. Throwing him into a situation where he is destined to struggle is no good for his confidence.
