After a good night's sleep, I am still so confused. I said at the start of this thread that with a game of this importance we must get behind the team. We did that, 29k turned up, just 1 small Jones out banner and a bit of booing when AMN was mentioned on the team sheet. (He actually had a good game) The atmosphere was very good considering what had been going on. The fans could sense that 1 goal was not enough as the game went on, they, I think made 4 substitutions to our none at 1 point, fresher legs including Traore. When we do make a sub, off goes our regular left back who was marking him. There were flashes of brilliance and aggression from the players and some are not fit to wear the shirt. Ultimately we have lost our way this season and we need to bring in a leader who can at least get the basics right. We march on and live in hope.
We only managed 2 shots on target the whole game, despite playing for more than an hour v 10 men. We could`ve doubled that if he`d taken the shots on. We could see Wolves slowly taking control of midfield, and a goal coming - Jones didn`t react to it, and handed the initiative to them by sticking to his precious back 5. And when he did change, it was too late, his subs being totally ineffective.
Perraud needs to improve his fitness or stop sprinting around relentlessly for 60mins so he can last the 90. I like him, he works his socks off but come the 65th min Traore had him as he was ****ed.
I think we saw why lavia has been coming off early. He really ran out of steam after a brilliant first 60
So, who is next? I know Selles will be in charge for Chelsea (I always rated Monica as a tennis player, but I'm not sure of her football management skills). Will we go for Pochettino, find out he's not answering his phone, then get Fat Sam?
Taking Jones out of the equation yesterday, and forgetting the hate for the man, we played generally well for 65mins, granted we could have taken more risks in the 2nd half. The last 20 were horrific, mind. Total ****ing meltdown from team and coach.
The ‘tomorrow by 10am’ were right. Well done. Shame on you 35 (46.1%) that had no faith that SR would do the right thing
Yeah I said at half time my main fear was we are so unused to winning and seeing our games that we would panic and fall apart, similar to the Blackpool game but against much better opposition. It happened and whilst Jones needed to go I blame the players for that yesterday as much as him
It's easy to blame Bednarek. Too easy. It's become an accepted trope that Bednarek is the source of our problems. Even when he reacts with an "oh ****" arm wave, people on here can't accept that it might just be aimed at himself. Scapegoating is easy. Their first goal he was in position on the line and almost blocked it, after which he was off balance and couldn't get his feet out of the way. It happens. I've done it. Watch their second goal again. If after doing so you blame Bednarek (as others on here have done), I'll eat my trousers. The defeat wasn't Bednarek's fault. It was the fault of the muppet who set us up to let Wolves own the midfield when they were down to ten men. He's a Polish International defender and was a solid part of our central defence for a long time. I suspect that Bednarek and DCC would be a formidable pairing. Vin
