I hope its like that for me when Mini Lincoln is older. It's one of my big fears for when he reaches adulthood that he'll be too busy for me.
That's football though, if we held on or built on that lead you'd have had a nice catch up then a brilliant afternoon watching a win with your son. It is **** a lot of the time but worth it for those great memories. Will never forget watching us beat Inter with my old man.
Bloody hell I couldn’t really see that Bednarek own goal from where I was sat, what an absolute horror. Sure am glad the best manager in Europe decided he was a better player than Caleta Car.
Hope so for both of you.x I know I’m very lucky. My ole man was Saints but I’ve gone stupid level but have 1976 et al. Unfortunately my son followed even tho he ended up at a Fareham school = PFC. He wore our shirt with pride & still does. So he’s had a few ups, lots of lows, including a couple of lost finals (Cardiff & Wembley). For me; now isn’t the lowest but it hurts so much because its a massive opportunity lost. UTS.
Right in front of us! Calamity Jane? Bedders shouts & points better than anyone in our side. That’s undeniable. Better than DCC or Stephens? I hope the later provides prospective. Ps. The vote is so disheartening (I’m also in the majority).
If Bednarek, Che and Aribo (and Ely) never play for us against, I wouldn't be shedding a tear. At least Che offered us something under Ralph. It wasn't much, but it was something. Whereas under Jones, his number one contribution seems to be giving away stupid fouls in half-arsed attempts at challenging with the opposition defenders.
Blimey, I'm super positive but I think even I am done. I don't wish ill of him and we aren't gone until mathematically gone but I think NJ needs to go. Not sure SR will act though and I doubt any change will even work TBH. I do not care if we go down, really not fussed about being in the Premier League but what I do care about is showing some fight. NJ should have just gone for it after Lemina was sent off, we had a man advantage and didn't even try to make it count! I would give Poch whatever it takes to come in until the end of the season, probably wouldn't be enough to keep us up but would go some distance to repairing things with the fanbase. The thing with appointing a new manager is if you do still go down, then you are left with them, great if they are a promotion specialist but not great if they are not! I feel we are good enough to stay up but not sure who could get the best out of us? Oh and I've never done a match thread but I'll do my first, maybe I can buck the trend?
Anyone else think it bizarre that JWP didn't have a shot from the free kicks? All I can think is that this is something that has been worked on in training which begs the question, why?!! There is no good reason why JWP should be passing for those free kicks in the hope of someone being in a better position. Especially not someone with his ability.
Not long got back, have put the TV on fully expecting that I would see NJ had gone, yet nothing. I still can't quite believe what I witnessed today and how we lost that. If we get a player sent off we lose 9-0, yet the other way round with an hour to play we cock it up. We are a broken team, we have some decent players but a team drained and suffocated of confidence. There is no doubt Jones has to go. The trouble is, who ever we appoint now would be a manager to prepare us for and get us out of the championship next season. We have wasted 3 months, precious time and opportunities that we will never get back.
Blimey, maybe I've changed my mind! Nah, I'll do it, at least we have beat them this season, could be our only chance of a double over someone! When do we normally do a match thread? I'll take it unless anyone else feels like doing it?
It’s insane and Im very surprised it’s not a bigger talking point on here. It’s one of two things to me, a training exercise in which case, what the absolute ****!? Take away the best FK player in the world and take away one of our biggest assets. Or option 2, JWP literally didn’t want to shoot in order to lose the game and get NJ out. It’s literally the only 2 conclusions I could logically draw. Nothing else makes any sense. I just can’t fathom that he’d have TWO chances in prime JWP territory and not take a punt at one, no player with his talent at FKs would do that. Beckham would never have done that in that situation in a United shirt.
Both free kicks were ‘too close’ for JWP range? At least that’s what I was telling myself at the game. Even so, it’s JWP, I’d still rather he had a go. The Wolves away one last season was too far out for JWP range and we know what happening there.
He doesn’t score all of them, it’s reasonable to try something different once in a while. It did catch them out: nobody was expecting it. I think conspiracies about JWP wanting us to lose are a bit silly.
I don't think JWP wanted us to lose, but I do think asking him to pass is taking away one of our most potent attacks. To paraphrase Wilde, to do it once and have it fail can be regarded as misfortune to do the same thing again and have it fail is carelessness. To me it just smacks of someone, whether it's Jones or JWP, trying to be too clever. Fair do's the first one caught them on the hop, but why, FFS, try it again?
JWP cares about Saints, he’d want to score or Saints to score. He’d want another PL free kick goal to add to his tally. They, including JWP, must have devised this routine for when we win FKs too close for JWP. If it were purely a Jones idea I’d like to think JWP would have the self belief and authority to ignore it and have a crack himself. If JWP wanted Jones out, I’d think he’d use his influence as captain and saints hero and talk to SR rather than throw the opportunity to get back in the game.
I don’t think we were expecting it, let alone them mainland niles seemed to be caught off guard on that last one
