Does anyone know if there are any companies other that EasyJet that fly out of Newcastle to Barcelona? I've looked on the net and it doesn't look like it but was hoping someone has some different info. Looking to fly there in a month and can't get flights on the day I want by the looks of things. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated <ok>

As it's coming into the winter period many airlines reduce thier destinations so you may find that you could have flown out to Barcelona during this summer with other operators but they've stopped until next summer.

There's a few other options if you have a connecting flight, but I'd imagine considerably more expensive than EasyJet.

I've flown with Ryanair to Barcelona Girona airport before. It's a bit outside Barcelona, maybe an hour(ish) but there's good coach links to Barcelona centre for maybe 15 Euros or so.

Jet2 fly out of Leeds to El Prat (the nearest airport), and a few years back I did a two legged trip from Newcastle to Heathrow first, which was cheaper at the time and a BA flight.

I once went to Qatar to see a mate and opted to take the cheapest option:

    Brussels > Gatwick
    Gatwick > Rome
    Rome > Cairo
    Cairo > Dubai
    Dubai > Bahrain
    Bahrain > Doha

Took 23.5 hours with changes but cost me £250

    Same return path.

    Direct from Brussels was £300...

On the return journey I was staring at the gate for the direct flight to Brussels with tears in my eyes.

Don't forget to consider opportunity cost, if you'd painted something in the spare 15 hours after you got home you could've made way more than the extra £50...

I spent more than £50 in departure lounges buying coffee's as well as a 6ft tall stuffed toy camel that I had to have sent from Bahrain. I bought it out of sheer boredom.

It arrived at the house in Brussels before I did. The wife wasn't very impressed with me and left it in the garden for me to sort out when I got back.

Auctioned it off in the pub a few months later. Amazed how a 6ft tall stuffed camel could only muster a bid of 40 Euros.
