Scotland will be favourites, obviously. I'll just be happier with a much improved performance and cut out the stupid penalties and mistakes (one can dream ). Looking forward to seeing how the new guys go.
The Scottish three quarters today have 3 South Africans a Tongan and Stuart Hogg. Kyle Steyn first visited Scotland in 2019.
Worst Welsh team for a while, that boy on the wing missing a try just on half time was **** last week too ! What's happened to Zamit ?
I am not sure what our final penalty count was but I can't begin to think what Shaun Edwards would be saying to them after the match?
Also when we did get the ball all we could look to do was to keep it to the pack. Each time we released it to the backs we were clueless. Absolute zero attacking threat.
Zammit is injured - should be fit for England North has ‘gone’ - Kieran Williams or Mason Grady to play? Biggar out for Patchell or Williams? Should Gatland have picked the Sheriff as captain?
Yep - he knows that the gig he wanted most of all is out of reach, so Wales is the second best if England didn’t want him
Ireland are a machine. The word is accuracy. I'm afraid that word will never be in the Welsh vocabulary.
In my opinion, years of underinvestment and neglect - in the core business of rugby - by the WRU are coming home to roost. It seems to me that they’d rather focus on a hotel, roof walk, finding ways to screw the Regions etc
Unfortunately. this defeat may be an indication that rugby has evolved and moved on, and left Gatland’s game plan for dead? Russell’s wide kicking game was outstanding and it seems that Edwards’ defence also got very exposed in the wider channels in Dublin today. Farrell and Townsend are building patterns and variety in attack which seem beyond Gatland’s reach. Gats’ game plan is applying pressure and keeping shape, hoping that the opposition self destruct and you then take your chances. We didn’t take our chances today - Dyer and Carre both dropped the ball with the line at their mercy. Hopefully, Gats and his new coaching team can ‘grow’ and find a system to make the players we have competitive - however, he is not helped by Pivac spending three years without establishing any functioning game plan or patterns for the modern international game.
I can't see Gats "growing" as he's only ever had the one system. The one glaring thing Ireland do for me, is the basics really, really well. Accuracy, discipline, focus and intensity. Totally agree "Farrell and Townsend are building patterns and variety in attack", which are impressive.
I agree with what you say about Gats himself - I was thinking more his new coaching team would provide new/fresh ideas. Wouldn’t surprise me if Gats ‘moves upstairs’ after the RWC as WRU Rugby Overlord/Director, with the likes of Dave Rennie, Scott Robertson, Pat Lam appointed Wales Head Coach
