Which is understandable. But Walcott and Bednarek should not be getting in the squad and first team (respectively) with a squad of that size. Especially when there are better players in their position who clearly aren't injured. I'd take Diallo on the bench over Walcott. I assume Ely is actually injured as his knee was strapped up last week (and he probably shouldn't have played)
I did, so not "the fans", just some of them. I rate Ely. I suspect our new signings may now overshadow him but I never, not once, doubted that he added to the team. Vin
I should have clarified - either playing after making all our signings. If you spend over 100m and are still playing Ely and Diallo then you have probably done something wrong somewhere (in my view at least)
So DCC, Orsić and ABK playing in the B team was definitely not about them needing minutes. Especially disappointed for DCC as he has looked comfortable as the central CB, when in that position, so if this turns out to be Jan (I will let strikers run across me and into space) Bednarek as the central CB in a back 3, I will not be too excited. Happy to see a midfield trio of JWP, Alcaraz and Lavia. Wondering if Sulemana will be playing in the 10 position to link with Tall Paul and get forward for flick ons.
I mean that's possible but Orsic in particular just looks an odder and odder signing. He never felt like a SR signing because he's too old. I assumed he was a Jones request. Possibly not a Bree-style request for a specific player but more like an "I want an experienced winger" request. He's plainly not one for the future but over a month into his time at the club he's only spent about 10 minutes on the pitch in league games and Theo Walcott is getting picked ahead of him. Just really, really weird.
Alienating arguably our best two CBs while stubbornly demanding that we play a back three is truly a managerial masterclass.
Surely he'd be fit enough to make the bench? Which, bizarrely, involves a keeper, a defender, and seven attackers?
Bizarre to have a starting XI with three central midfielders and none on the bench. Diallo has been looking better of late as well so must be injury related, surely this can't be a managerial decision..
Pretty sure I said ‘feel’ rather than know. It ‘feels’ like we have a load of players who are wanted by the manager and a load of players - some pretty much new - who aren’t being used…
