Watched the first episode, it was OK, didn't really make me want to watch a second... Not that I wouldn't if I had nothing else to watch, but got buried below other things that seemed better.
I'm on episode 5 and it's up there with the new GOT and LOTR as a big budget great looking fantasy show. The story is better than LOTR and up there with GOT, it's potentially a great show.
The Sandman gets to episode 5 and finishes off the brilliant David Thewlis story and just jumps Off a cliff, ****ing awful.
Don't ever remember seeing it but currently watching on Prime... Crossing Lines originally 2012 ,3 seasons sort of based on Interpol crime drama, solid 7/10
I always thought GoT was vastly overrated, never really understood what all the hype was about. I think Rings of Power is better.
meh. GoT started in 2011. We have to remember that this is quite early in the whole streaming service evolution. GoT got a seriously pass for some rank acting IMO in the early series as it had enough characters and enough going on to be a political intrigue as well as an action type show. It also had the benefit of most people still had 1 show per week and 1 series per year expectations. It was after all the incest, killing, nudity etc that sold GoT just as much as the political goings on and who dunnits. If you have a shortish series now and 2 years production between the series then you are on the back foot these days. people just consume and discard really quickly imo. Rings of power has got mixed reviews cos it was very see through and frankly not brilliantly written, but had superior production values. The house of dragons stuff suffered from compressing all the "build up " intrigue it should have done over 2 or 3 series into a half series so it could go dragon warring. Same disease as series 7 and 8 GoT. The shows now however all suffer form one key fact. their source material is well known so there are no surprises.
I only watched the first few seasons of GoT (don't have HBO). As with most things, the book is much better, but I thought they did pretty good trying to adapt it to TV... Better than I expected, although it's funny, even though the sex and nudity, etc is all through the books, it doesn't seem so gratuitous in the books... Rings or Power has its moments. For me it alternated between good and bad episodes but generally got better throughout the season. I'm not a masochist, so I haven't tried reading the similarion to compare it. From what I understand you have to be really hard core Tolkien to get through that. There's also Wheel of Time. It had a more kiddish feel to it than the other big two fantasy shows, it was OK. Worth watching even if not spectacular, like ROP it got better over the season.
Read it years ago, its not as hard as people like to tell you it is. Also Rings of Powers isn't the Silmilarion, well its a tiny bit at the end of the book but thats about it. The series is being based off the other bits and bobs that were published after Tolkein died, the notes and other stories.
Clarksons farm2 very good, showed how the planning officers can be vindictive.Fella I used to work with fell foul of these twats.
