Good Morning. It's Friday 10th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Gallardo rumours gathering pace

Andoni Iraola's odds of becoming Leeds Utd's next new head coach have been dented, after rumours that he has ruled himself out out of the running have started to gathering pace. It seemed a forgone conclusion that the 40yo would be swapping the Cultural Capital of Europe for the hustle and bustle of Leeds, but fast forward the clock 48 hours, leading bookies have widened his odds from 1/2 to 10/3.

Arne Slot is the current favourite, yet Feyenoord are yet to receive an approach from Leeds, leaving fans to speculate whether Marcelo Gallardo could be a realistic target. In the past 48 hours, his odds of taking the Elland Road hot seat have been slashed from 25/1 down to 4/1, and they continue to tumble.

Gallardo, a former Argentinian International, with 44 caps has the midas touch. As both player, and coach, the 47yo has won 22 titles, such is his competitiveness for the game. He has had four stints at River Plate, including most recently an eight year run as Manager, marking him down in folk law history in South America.

Don't expect to see a new Leeds Manager until after the weekend

Don't expect to see a new Leeds Manager until after the weekend. That's the response Manchester Evening News correspondent Conor McGilligan received after tweeting Andrea Radrizzani yesterday. Reading between the lines, it seems to suggest that Leeds are not much further forward than they were, after sacking Marsch on Monday.

Corberan and Iraola have ruled themselves out of the running, and Leeds seem reluctant to chase Arne Slot. It seems odd that the club would sack Marsch (even though he was starting to talk gibberish) if they didn't already have somebody lined up as replacement, just like they did when the American took over from Bielsa. Can we assume that somewhere down the plan either their plans have changed, or have negotiations gone badly wrong?

    Leeds to face the drop

Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher believes that Leeds will not escape relegation this season, following the arrival of San Dyche to Goodison Park. The former Watford and Burnley gaffer, took charge at Everton less than two weeks ago, and has already wowed the public with a 1-0 victory of league leaders Arsenal.

Up until then, Carragher believed the Whites had a fair chance or finishing above the Toffee's, but with Dyche at the helm, his experience could be crutial.

“Everyone believes they (Everton) have a manager who can keep them up, I think the feeling was different if Frank Lampard had stayed in tenure. I think Sean Dyche has been down there before, he won’t panic.

“I used to see him at Burnley were there and there about and you’d see in his interviews, the way he conducted himself before and after games, there’s never any panic there really. You felt that. I still think Everton have a lot to do. I don’t think it’s a gimme now that because they have Sean Dyche they’ll stay up.

“Everton are still in the bottom three and I look at Leeds’ situation without a manager and the fact that the rest of the teams did strengthen heavily in the transfer window, you’d think one of them will produce something.

“I don’t see West Ham going down at all. I think Nottingham Forest have six points on the bottom three, it’s a fair amount of points. I think it’ll be out of Everton or Leeds, I think Everton will just do enough and I think it’ll be Leeds.”

Morning all. Inclined to agree with Carragher re Dyche. Our lot made a complete cock up not getting him in a month ago and it could cost them dear. The old saying "wouldn't organise a piss up in a brewery" springs to mind

I look at Dyche and all I see is a man who coaches “the dark arts” clogging, time wasting, sledging, professional fouls. Detest him, his tactics and his personality.

We need someone sitting between the honourable Bielsa and the polite but focused Pep. Not a ginger whinger, but hes gone to Everton and dont give a shyt what Spit the scouse says Everton will not pull away from danger before we do

Our squad is better so my guess is we should start picking up points now, even under Skoobs

So the scouse git says dyche will keep them up. So how come Burnley were relegated then?. Plus you only need a couple of injuries and things change. Nah too early to predict anything.
As for the pub league south American manager you can forget it. Him at pub league lowlands plastic paddys the same.

    Morning all.

Firstly it was absolutely the 100% right decision to sack Marsche on Monday.

Secondly the process to find our new head coach is only 4 days old.

    Please chillax <ok>

I agree but certainly wouldn't say Everton will definitely finish below us with one point separating us <yikes>

Half agree with Both, Dyche will definitely keep Everton up, hopefully we have enough quality to be safe too. I think we have to hope anyone from Forest and lower go on a bad run and get dragged in.

I even agree with Wakey that it only takes a couple of key injuries to ruin a season from here on in.

    Morning all

    Good morning all
Had to smile to myself, seeing Simon Grayson on the above odds list, Always felt he would have had us back in the top flight years ago , given the right support from the board. Also remember his teams were great on the attack, but pi** poor at defending, so would be right at home with this squad. <laugh>

Made me smile too along with a few others that really should be 1000/1

I’d love to meet the person who put a bet on Grayson at 40/1 and just ask why or even Jose at 33/1

I thought Gallardo at 25/1 was a great price on Tuesday, even at 16/1 that’s good value

Odds mean Jack, it just means more people are putting money on him due to the others being less likely due to new contracts or what the clubs have said about the other candidates.

Rather them take time and someone worthwhile than getting the wrong body in. Would probably prefer and interim coach until summer if they can’t get who they want right now, no point getting 5th choice target on a long contract if you can get 1st choice in the summer.

Also glad we haven’t gone for Dych, I don’t want Leeds to be one of these teams that battle relegation year in year out, getting the same managers and players just to stay up until we eventually don’t. We need to do it differently to break the system and hopefully grow into one of the better and bigger teams in the league.
