I can understand you feeling sympathetic towards him in his position BUT, 'carrying the can' is the job - for him, the players and the board. From an on-pitch perspective I would say that he is responsible for 90% of the issues that we have. Worst stats in the league in many areas, more players chopped and changed than everyone bar chelseas, ridiculous number of formations experimented with, too easy to score against and not able to score ourselves. Most of the ire he has faced in my opinion comes from the sheer failure to improve anything about the team. Across the board we are worse than when he arrived and that is in spite of a WC break to reset and reinvigorate the squad, some relatively easy games in the cup and some very hefty spend in January. Now on top of that he has made himself out to be one of the best managers in Europe with a new resolve to 'do it my way'. He's largely brought this on himself and he's not getting out of this UNLESS he saves us from relegation which means results and now, not next week or the week after. He used his rope pretty much.
In fairness, cracking jokes and stuff would be fine if we hadn’t lost 6 in 7 and looked totally lost as a football team.
He’s literally said, “I knew I wasn’t brilliant as a player”, and you’re all calling him out for being arrogant? He’s said arrogant things before but I don’t think this is the best quote to use here.
Yeah, fans whining like little bitches is more annoying than most of the things Jones says that theyre complaining about! Results & performances on the whole have been shocking and that 1 post match presser was awful - but finding fault and over reacting to everything he says is a bit embarrassing.
Tend to agree, but I think people just do not like him as a character. It’s overdoing it now, but he’s dug his grave. Still, if football fans are one thing, it’s fickle - if we put in a performance and win 3-0 tomorrow, he’ll get more grace.
I am not so sure. I think he hasn’t endeared himself to the fans, and there is a long way back, if at all. As I said earlier, if we won the FA cup and finished 12th, I still would want a change at the end of the season as I just don’t feel he is the right fit. He most certainly wouldn’t survive two 9-0 defeats rightly or wrongly.
No you wouldn't. You would absolutely love the man, and forgive everything he's ever said and done. In fact, his calamitous start at the club would become a thing of endearment.
