The more I think about this the more I like the idea. He has an impeccable pedigree at United. He has proven his managerial ability by leading Molde now after having won their league title (no mugs the Norwegians before someone claims Norway's League is vastly inferior). He may well be now looking to take the next step in England which ought to be at Championship level (Premiership maybe too big a jump). He would surely be liked by our United babes and should fend off any returns by Pearson and his wad. He should be familiar with us because of our "Special Relationship" with United. He should guarentee continued connection with their youth organisation. Surely this ticks all the boxes?
Personally I wouldn't mind him either, he would definitely have the backing of a young team as most of there hero's would of been OGS. This couldn't of happened at a better time at the club, we have 2 weeks to get a manager, meet his team, get to know the players and play the way he wants. 2 weeks. the search is on
i dont buy into this crazy notion that NP will be back for our kids ? he will be told to go for expensive has beens. with the right manager appointed (ie. either Joyce or Ole) the kids WILL STAY. NP depature will unite them all. imo. the calming influence of nicky barmby and rosie will be a good start this week. in a perverse sort of way NP departure could not have come at a better time IF OGS is the one City want.
It would be a great add on to the story of our relationship with United. Instinctively i'd say there's no chance but the more you think about it, the more likely it maybe seems... a bit like when i first got told Leicester wanted Pearson back!
I reckon it's happened at the worse time in the season. What happens if we bring in a new manager but him and his back room staff don't hit it off with the players immediately? He;s had no time at all the get his training methods/ tactics/ formations across and now games are coming thick and fast. Gone is the sluggishness of August & September and now the matches are approaching that could change our season. What if we then we lose 3/4 matches on the trot, and suddenly from challenging for the playoffs, we're in the relegation zone? It's just what happened to the last "up and coming young manager" we had here.
I assume they'd lose some respect for NP after all this. You can imagine he'd have had to tell them how great it was here and how he wants to build a youth focused team around them to get them to come here from Leicester in the first place, only to bugger off back when he gets the first oppurtunity. Hopefully they develop a **** you attitude and Fryatt bags 3 on December 3rd with a clean sheet from a heroic Hobbs!
Hobbs is a QTR of one of the best back 4's in the league. Fryatt could prosper even more so with say OGS in charge. Ive said for yonks that City need a striker coach. OGS was one of the best and would coach our strikers well and do for them what NP has done for the defenders. OR why not get both WJ & OGS & NB as our dream trio - ticket management team.
The only ones he would realistically go for would be Cam, Chester and most likely of all, Rosie. There is no way in the world he'll take Fryatt or Hobbs back.
he wont get them. they wont go there as they could be left in the lurch when NP gets the sack. Barmby and Rosie will this week keep the squad unity going. imo.
I would be very surprised if we don't have an agreement with Leicester that NP cannot come back for our players within a set timescale
Koren just wants to play centre midfield. Dont think he would to fussed as long as he can play there.
is that the length of his lesta contract by chance ? i doubt he will be there long enough to come back anyway.
I would think the whole team will lose respect for NP, he brought them in then affectively abandoned them. It will need a manager with the ability to get them quickly back to a positive frame of mind, and OGS could be a good shout to do this.
The fact is, they're all under contract. NP may well have to be back in for them - but just because he wants them, doesn't mean he'll get them, and even if they wanted to join him, it's a seller's market. They have to meet the price - which both AP and NP have been bigging up in recent months. what was it on Humberside the other week... Burnsey mentioned as NP was passing that we had a £15m squad according to AP - NP then shouted back that he thought it was more. Fair enough numbnuts... if that's what you think, that's what you and your thai masters will now pay.
He definately would, but this season? That's what the owners will expect from him and after an average start in a league notoriously difficult to be consistent in it will prove a big task. Having said that i'd be surprised if they didn't get play-offs under him.
he may well do if given the time, But time is the one thing that NP will not have. From day one his clock is ticking.
