Yeah, I don't keep up with the fans but I've seen a fair few of the games. I really didn't realise that the results had been as bad as they were. He's been hampered by some players that were awful under Bielsa and stayed awful under him. But the football looked fluid, aggressive, effective going forwards. It goes to show what an incredibly tight league this is. Just a smidge of good luck and they would have a lot more points. Very 'Saints like' under Ralph to be honest.
I have a few mates who are Leeds fans and it did all sound very familiar. Missing lots of chances/decent positions in games then defensively get exposed as everyone is pushing forward and concede when felt like they were dominating the game. They attributed it more to Bamford being absolutely **** than Marsch. They also think Struijk and Kock are very good defenders who were just left exposed too often so they probably know **** all
Picking up on the comments regarding Adam Blackmore's brave stance against Southampton FC in the last 24 hours, I have to say that I think he will remain at the helm of the Saint's commentaries on Radio Solent far longer than SR will be our owners. I get the fact that lack of access to SR has rankled Blackmore but would also add that I find him a fair and reasonable judge of what is going on in the club. It is difficult to understand why the club had felt so intimidated as he is not a journalist who is out to make mischief. In my opinion his commentaries an views more often than not reflect the opinion of the fans. In the case of Nathan Jones, both Blackmore and Tessem have been spot on in their assessment and I also take comfort from learning that Dave Merrington shares the same opinions. As things stand, both Jones and SR derserve the criticism which has been measured and eschewed controversy. The only people who cannot see the detriment caused to the club by Nathan Jones are SR and if they are no out-of-step , it is the duty of the press to report this. If you pick up on the number of games lost, extent of goals conceded and paucity of goals scored, it is clear there is something wrong with how the playing department of Southampton FC is being run. I have no doubt that AB will outlast both Nathan Jones and SR . Any lack of action on the part of SR prior to the Wolves came should come under scrutiny and I really think the Ankeson and the others need their feet held to the fire.
I don't think SR are going anywhere, but possibly Ankersen might. I'm beginning to consider one of those Uber Share things to take both him and Jones out of the club in one move...
Is there no way the club can get round Jason Wilcox having to be on gardening leave until the end of the season? I strongly suspect that if he had taken up the Director of Football role already, we wouldn’t be waiting on Ankersen’s common sense to get the better of his pride.
I don’t think he will but far more likely there than here. They are a much bigger club than us and if he wants to get back into football I could see why it may be attractive
I wonder where Crocker sits in all of this, bearing in mind he's still our DOF as far as I know.. I do wonder if he's leaving (heavily rumoured he was pushed) because he opposed the appointment of NJ. He seems an intelligent, switched on guy so could probably see the writing on the wall.
As he had zero input into any of the recent the transfer deals, which Ankersen took charge of himself, it makes you wonder if he’s on gardening leave until he leaves at the end of the season as well. Effectively, Ankersen is DoF at the moment.
Oh god, when will it end. Can we just rename the league or carve these clubs off and ship them into the super league.
