I’d go all out for Poch. The most proven coach out there with premier league experience. Think he would be brilliant with this squad. Yes he wants the Spurs or Chelsea job and I’d agree to let him go if they become available but there’s no guarantee both won’t stick with the managers they’ve got so he stays with us. At the very least I think he keeps us up this season.
seems someone has spilt some info somewhere. A few betting firms even are suspended on the leeds Manager market. all the money going one way.
Hussenhuttl was nailed on for the hockenheim job, but today they did a uturn and appointed someone else .
You seem really excited about men aged 25-70? Would it up the ante if they had a hairdressers car too?
go stick a quid on him at 18/1 but you never know Manager markets are more bookies covering their backs than actually money laid down.
He's a basque born lad, and played for bilbao, coinciding with Bielsa as his manager for 2 years . Went to the states to live in manhattan( some change!) where jack harrison also played. He's says he never had a plan to go into management but became good mates with patrick viera at New York city fc. That seemed to change his mind and he started off with his local club, then a gig in cyprus and now rayo vallecano, small club from madrid but with history and very loyal support from their local area. They play high press and are punching above their weight this year. He comes across as a straight talker, (most basque people are!) Only 6 months left on his contract.
With Koch, rutter and Willy, slot would be the I’ve heard Iraola is a bit of a tit. correction: my bad - thats areola, bloody spell check
If it’s Iraola it’s going to be a huge gamble, the Cypriot team he coached never won a game in two months and he was sacked. He’ll have my backing but deep down I can’t help feel our board never learn
I know that is what it says on Wikipedia , however transfermarkt.com says he won 13 out of 29 matches, and averaged 1.62 points per game. What Wikipedia doesnt say is that he was in charge for 6 months and then had a 2 month spell where the team failed to win, no idea how many matches that involved though https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andoni-iraola/stationen/trainer/60677/plus/1 The image below taken from Daily Mail article on 18 November 2021 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...mendous-Radamel-Falcao-teams-rise-LaLiga.html
He had a good team by all accounts, was sacked after no wins in two months, the next guy comes in, wins 20 draws 13 loses 5 Like I said I’ll back whoever comes in but this is a gamble My point is we’re scrambling to Wiki having to cherry pick the smallest of positives in desperation and hope.
I agree its a gamble, and not someone I would choose myself, I just felt that giving the full picture of his managerial career, is better than just selecting a 2 month period from 4 years ago, in what was his first coaching role
Mate it was like handing over Man City to him, he ruined the football. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imanol_Idiakez That’s the guy he succeeded who went back after they sacked Iraola, he inherited a team that the previous guy managed a 61% win percentage He admits himself his team underperformed It was his first job, a learning curve, yes you can forgive him that one but he is so inexperienced, he has no knowledge of English football yet alone the PL I’m hugely underwhelmed if this is the guy we’re getting and I just don’t understand the club willing to gamble like this Like Eire pointed out, our new regime has only got it right once so far I’ll support him 100% but I’m worried how this is going to turn out. The saving grace is there surely can’t be someone worse than Jesse but then it would be so Leeds to find the one that is
Sigh did you not read the first line of my post in which I agreed with you and said it was a gamble. Yes he didnt do as well at Larnaca as the guy who was there before him and then replaced him , but it was his first coaching role and was over 4 years ago. I just have a thing about the selective posting of stats
I was editing my previous post, it wasn’t selective posting, I just didn’t intend on having to pick out every detail to make the point, the team he inherited should never have went on a winless streak like that, exactly like we shouldn’t have under Jesse
