What spectacular timing. The day that the Bank of England pushes up interest rates, creating even more distress for hard hit families, this comes out. "MPs will receive £2,212 more for the year from 1 April, increasing their pay by 2.7% from £81,932 to £84,144, the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) announced."
I read something similar on Sky News website this morning but thought it sounded oddly familiar - looking closer, it was dated 2022, so I think they may have had the rise last April?
Unbelievable - Truss is apparently considering another stint in Number 10. As if her thankfully short stay there last year wasn't disastrous enough - her party must be so bereft of talent to think that recycling failed prime ministers is the way ahead. https://www.thenational.scot/news/2...back-rumours-intensify-return-whatsapp-group/
WE live in a mad world eh.... Bojo hankering after a return.... and Trump , Netayahu etc...... Crooks seem to be rewarded...
There comes a point when, as decent human beings, we have to draw a line in the sand. That we're already beyond that point is one thing, but if we don't make a stand now, right now, we are in real danger of becoming a fascist dictatorship. I, for one, will not sit idly by on this. The time for words is pretty much over with this shower of sh1t. Just about time for direct action or we will cease to be the notional "democracy" that was once a shining beacon to the world.
Shell £32.2 BILLION profit. BP £23 BILLION profit. Average energy prices which are set to rise further in the UK: £2,585 - UK €650 - France €650 - Belgium €620 - Spain €558 - Germany €558 - Denmark €546 - Holland €545 - Austria €543 - Norway GREED
Reading that Irish Times / New York Times piece about Manchester City there was a relevant line towards the end of the article: When tyranny is law, revolution is duty. We're fast approaching that point. And for what? A few greedy spaffers trying to cling on to their overprivileged lifestyle. It's ridiculous.
Speaking of which... That mumbling clown BoJo has been given advance payments of nearly £2.5 million (plus free accommodation) for future 'speaking' engagements in the USA. It's surely surprising that so many Americans haven't heard him try, and fail, to speak. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/boris-johnson-speaking-engagements-b1058809.html
The sign of a fascist state? Insulate Britain activist jailed for contempt of court - and during his trial for taking part in a road-blocking protest, the judge ordered him not to tell the jury what his motivation for taking part was, but he did anyway. There's probably no denying that he was, strictly speaking, in contempt of court - but what right does the judge have to tell him not to explain to the jury his motivation for taking part in the protest? https://www.theguardian.com/environ...-jailed-for-eight-weeks-for-contempt-of-court

I wonder what Telegraph readers think about a large poll that shows the SNP to be the official opposition? I am quite surprised the paper published it. please log in to view this image
What I read from this is how the Liberals’ Faustian pact with Cameron means they’ve burnt their boats with the electorate. They would have been in the pound seats but for their ill-timed ambition over integrity choice.
