Yeah, I've been thinking that Alcaraz might suit ten more than being in the double pivot (though that does mean dropping JWP back).

Could always go for a Lavia or Diallo in a CDM role with JWP and Alcatraz in front alternating who presses forward.

We could certainly utilise a few more variations during our transition phases with the ball.

Currently we are so one dimensional other teams sus out our phases of play in the opening minutes of a game.

I would go with Onuachu up front with Edozie and Sulemana either side, Alcaraz just behind with JWP and Lavia at the base.

Perraud left, KWP/Bree(depending on fitness of KWP) right with DCC and Salisu/ABK in the centre.

Not sure whether to stick with Baz or bring McCarthy back, prob go with McCarthy but Baz needs to be looked after, none of this is his fault but we all know GKs can be fragile and Saints are better than most at breaking them!

    Onuachu
    Edozie Sulemana
    Alcaraz
    Lavia JWP
    Perraud Salisu/ABK DCC KWP/Bree
    McCarthy

Do we need 2 defensive midfielders if we go with 3 CBs?
In the YouTube video of Lavia, I got the impression that he is very comfortable being the only defensive midfielder, sweeping in front of the CBs, even in a back 4.
I would be happy with a 4-1-2-3 or 4-1-4-1 which would enable JWP and Alcaraz to get forward.

It's our best team, Beggars belief how the manager doesn't see it.

I agree, I think Lewebster nailed the line up.

Giving Alcaraz and JWP the freedom to do there own thing would be glorious to watch.
Both are very competent too in tracking back and putting in defensive shifts too.

Very impressive debut and someone who gives me hope that we can win or draw a premier league football match before the end of May.

Only positive from today. We'll coach it out of him and he'll be a shadow of himself by May <laugh>

He does. And JWP hasn't looked all that good from open play of late in that position (though I did find it hilarious when we hoofed one to his head when he was on the side of the box).

This dude was a shining moment in an otherwise depressing day. Everything I hoped he would be, intelligent, direct, quick and hard working. Absolute star, more of this please.

The only issue I saw was that when he lost the ball, his first instinct was to stop and look frustrated rather than try to win it straight back.
A minor gripe as it was usually after he had done something good on the ball, or had been sprinting with it. I suppose if he did that too, he may burn himself out within 60 minutes.
It does seem we have a player there with huge potential though!
