He will go mate. 100%. Did you not see how dejected he was in his post match? He’s given everything to this club. And it’s falling down around him. He will be gone
A little bit more from a friend of a friend (via SA where he plays cricket) he is saying some players are training separately by choice from NJ. He says it's toxic there and the players are split. I can only post what I'm told but BM* has mates there. * PM me if you know him.
The split could become clear on Saturday, when the team is named as I would guess that those who are training alone won’t be part of the match day squad, unless they are needed to make up numbers on the bench. Which would bring into question the decision to let Napoleon carry on in charge if he won’t be able to prepare properly for the next game. Can you give any indication as to the number that are training alone?
I don’t think so. Most initial reactions weren’t great, then most thought give him a go. He’s not helped himself.
I do think a huge number of players have gotten away with absolute ****ing murder hiding behind Ralph and now the Jones catastrophe, but one problem at a time I suppose.
I don’t think that’s the case. For the vast majority of matches I have not seen a lack of effort from the players, just some of them aren’t that great.
I can ask (via friend) but I get the impression he is scared he could drop himself in the **** if he says too much. It's definitely not a happy place atm but NJ was at staplewood first thing.
I do fear how many fans on Saturday would rather we lose than win, just to be able to vent their fury and/or watch the chaos unfold. Those going must initially get behind the team. If things go badly (particularly with Jones now playing his style, no-one else's!) then the inevitable reaction will happen but please let's not will it to go this way from the start
Great analysis from everyone, and a brilliant rant from Chris Sutton. The Saints fan (Yasmine Wiseman?) spoke for most of us as well I thought.
That was a good read, thanks. One thing I've found sightly overlooked with the whole Thomas Frank comparisons was that he was Brentford's Assistant Manager for 2 years before getting the top job. He was a known quantity.
Theory: they fully intend to fire him, but are waiting until tomorrow. As soon as fans start baying for blood at the fan forum, Ankersen will pull out his phone and call Jones to sack him. Mood lightened considerably. And the reason they don't want the event streamed is that they want to do some post-processing for maximum effect. This is all very real and legitimate.
I do feel like fans and supporters should reign in some of the vitriol, I'm proud to be a saints fan and I would hate to see the reaction to Jones turn against us. I shan't be there but I hope to see the boos confined to the manager and not the players, especially the new boys. We have 5 new players and I don't hold them accountable for anything. I would love for them to be roared on for every touch even the bad ones.
