Wouldn’t want the titles to be reassigned. It would mean nothing. Wouldn’t be able to celebrate. All that would happen is the number goes up a couple on the record books and players may get another medal. Would be better to just remove a winners name and put a note to say ‘Man City cheated’ so its always in the records that city win through dodgy means.
What’s the difference being handed the title because the team then won it blatantly cheated and those athletes who received Olympic medals etc because they were cheated out of them by druggies? Cheating is cheating, regardless of the sport.
Just imagine all those players getting stripped of their PL winners medals. And the engravings on the trophy blanked out.
CJ Ujah cost his 3 other teammates an Olympic silver medal in the 4x100m relay because he was a drug cheat. If the financial cheating is proven against. city, how many of those players with PL winners medal would even be at the club if the club hadn’t cheated?
If the club is found guilty (and let's be honest they're guilty as sin) I'd feel some sympathy for those players that weren't complicit - for all of about 1 millisecond - and then I'd say fck them.
punishments apparently can't work like that. the only fit and proper punishment is a 50 point deduction or expulsion from prem
I can't see them giving the PL titles to the runner's up. I mean how would that make sense without ALL the other PL clubs kicking off about individual results impacting on those final league positions. And they'd have a point tbf.
Flippancy and tribal banter aside, they have to do something significant surely? If found guilty then the whole English game is brought into disrepute. You'd think that the authorities - useless as they undoubtedly are - would want to be seen as ethical and making sure the game is clean.
The only real punishment is relegation. Fine nowhere near enough to restore credibility. Points docked nowhere near enough to restore credibility. Ban from transfer windows nowhere near enough to restore credibility.
Massive fine and transfer embargo for two years i recon. You can annul the titles no problem and maybe even drop a division but that then impacts the bottom three because one of them will escape relegation. Still think they will get away with it though.
There'd be one hell of a stink about it. Mind you, there'd be one if it all gets swept under the carpet again. I just hope the whole thing isn't quietly put to bed somehow. Despite me saying something must be done, I'll believe it when I see it. I don't have much faith in the ethics and/or competence of a body that allows Chelsea to do what they're doing and Newcastle to be owned by the House of Saud.
Step the titles but don't award them to the runners-up, just null & good them. Massive fine and transfer ban too, naturally
