Well, no they're not. They've made a horrific appointment but teams don't just vanish into thin air if they get relegated from the PL.
Well exactly. Dragan Solak has forked out over £250 million of his own money so far, to buy the club and invest in new players. I believe there was talk of the loan which Gao took out being paid off too. What’s he going to do if we get relegated? a) Throw his hands in the air and walk away. b) Make sure we don’t stay too long in the Championship. Solak is not Rupert Lowe 2.0, as far as I can tell.
Aside from his personality and the performances, one of the most unforgivable things to me is Jones spaffed our World Cup break up the wall. A great chance to regroup wasted. Then he says it was difficult because we were missing two players, with one (or was it both?) flying back after the group stage. Ridiculous statement.
What I meant was, there's no guarantees we'd come straight back up. We could easily end up like Sunderland, Wigan or Bolton. I mean, we could also do a Burnley, Norwich or Fulham. Hence it gambling the future of the club, because there's no way we could sustain if we end up tumbling down the leagues.

At the end of the day Solak/SR have pumped a lot of money into the club this year so it is in their interests far more than any of us that we stay in the PL and collect the money. My only fear with relegation is if they decide to recoup some of the money lost because of it, and we sell a lot of players and don’t reinvest. No idea if that will happen, but is the only real worry I have if we go down
Rasmus isn't going to win, If we keep making the atmosphere toxic at games... we will force his hand.
Yeah but those clubs you listed who didn’t come back were all relegated awhile ago now. Times have changed. If you were to look at the 15 teams who went down in the last 5 years I think the bounce back inside a couple of seasons rate would be very high. I assume that is a knock on if the new tv deal that came into play so the gap is much higher now between bottom of the PL and vast majority of the championship
There isn't, but it's in SR's best interests for us to come straight back up. Therefore, although we'll lose some players if we went down, I don't think we'd sell half the squad.
I think we'd sell a few (KWP, Salisu, Che would be my guesses) but I think we'd keep the majority of the squad together. SR would be looking to get straight back in the PL so it wouldn't be in their interests to have a fire sale.
Yeah I think a few more would go (some we wouldn’t be bothered about). Had a quick look and Burnley had a big turnover of players this summer, they’ve obviously recruited well both on the playing and coaching side. Hopefully if we were to go down we could do a similar thing
I think we would lose more than that. JWP, DCC, ABK, Lavia, Orsić would be on that list. JWP wants that free kick record. DCC and Orsić will want to pursue their international places, as would ABK. Lavia, after Napoleon threw him under the bus Saturday, has probably already spoken to his agent. We don’t know if the last two in the door have release clauses built into their contracts, allowing them to leave if relegated. ****, we might even lose Moi and Theo
Call me naïve, but I think there would be a chance JWP would stay. Maybe 50-50, maybe less than that but I don't think it's a given he leaves if we go down.
The Euros in 2024 are probably his last chance of playing in an international tournament. I very much doubt he stays if there's real interest from a decent sized club.
Absolutely no chance. He would have all but the very top clubs after him and it would be the year of the next euros too, having missing out already he must be desperate to go to an international tournament.
