Could it be that we need a more mobile left back (or Targett back) to take the pressure off the right?

Possibly, issue could be that 2 marauding full backs may leave Botman and Schar exposed.

Nah the problem is the kids an out and out maverick. You can't tame him. You take him warts n all (he ain't gonna track back and he isn't going to pass) or you get rid. He can't play in the system. He's trying bless him. He really, really is. But he's now over thinking what he's meant to do rather than being the free spirit he once was where he could do whatever the **** he wanted. This isn't meant to sound like I'm digging him out because its not meant to. He just doesn't have the mentality. It's like teaching trent how to defend for Liverpool.

Still think he's a useful option from the bench.. the 26th for example

I'm afraid he just doesn't fit the system now. He looks indecisive when he has the ball. He doesn't press fast enough and doesn't track back enough. I get the point with BDB, he's not exactly creative and can't cross. Best thing for Maxi and everyone is for him to move on to pastures new in the summer. Shame, but there's no room for passengers in Eddie's team, unless your last name is Wilson.

I think he's too old to learn the mind set required going from "I'll dribble past the first 9 players then take a shot before I reach the 10th player" and "I need to get back, tackle the winger cleanly then spray the ball to Bruno"

Happy to be proven wrong though - So Ho'way Maxi

I don’t think Burn is a high level left back, which doesn’t help. He had arguably his worst match for the club on Saturday, was hopeless passing and made aimless runs leaving us exposed, none of which helped Max.

However what was a bit odd was that Max didn’t seem to read the game at all. He didn’t drop to receive the ball enough and was always off the pace, then the decision making was also very poor. He’ll have better games than this, but is just far less tenacious than Gordon. I also think Howe ****ed up when he switched Joelinton and Willock, not a great day for the boss either.

Throw in a West Ham team who played defensively very well and it’s just not a game we can judge in isolation. I think we have priorities ahead of getting shot of the lad.

The lad has played about 2 hours since August and people jumping all over him for that performance at the weekend? Don't get me wrong he was poor but he made more tackles than Miggy, did track back (was poor but did win one or two good tackles that I remember), looked better in the final third but he needs a run of games to get into the swing of it.

I know he had a few loose passes and mis-controls where the ball ran under his foot but so did others like Miggy and Longstaff.

Honestly though the reaction to his performance was way OTT when everyone bar Joelinton and maybe Pope was a 6 or below and some others were proper ****e.

The thing that pissed me off most on Sat was the constant standing still waiting for the ball to come to him and it being nicked away - be proactive FFS!

Not being funny, but asking a pro footballer to be able to have a decent first touch and take control of it after 2 months out the 1st team is like me expecting an office worker to remember how to type on Word. It's not ****ing rocket science.

He is still one of our better players. Even on an off day, he is better than every other winger (except Gordon who looks class.) He definitely is not helped by Dan Burn. I know he is a local lad and loved, but as a left back, he is probably the worst in the league. He is a decent CB though. LB is a concern for us and BDB is part of the reason. He needs protecting far too much. Hopefully Targett comes back soon as we could do with him.

Stick with Maxi. He will get out of this funk. He will probably run the show in the final on the 26th!

Loads of players made that exact mistake at the weekend on either side, Miggy and Longstaff both did exactly the same thing at least as many times and they've played every game.

For a bit of perspective, it's also like asking Trev to remember his password.
