So Napoleon Jonesaparte hasn’t yet had the Wellington boot, but he might face his Wolverloo on Saturday?
There just doesn’t seem to be any logic in giving him the Wolves game to me. If he wins it’s not going to be enough to get fans back onside, and if we draw/lose it is another winnable game gone by where we haven’t won
This. And I can't see anything other than a Wolves win if he's in charge on Saturday. The atmosphere will be absolutely hideous.
Can someone with more time and inclination than I do today, have a look at Ankersen’s history of managerial appointments? There’s the fella he got rid of after 9 games, then you could say he got a bit lucky that Frank worked out from an internal promotion (after a horrid start), but there does seem to be a theme of over-thinking, and over-estimation of his own brilliance.
I'd just like to say sometimes things happen that put our manager problems into perspective. Yes, it's horrible watching Saints under Jones, but it's hardly catastrophic. Catastrophic is that massive earthquake that hit Turkey. Relegation is nothing compared to what a lot of people are going through over there.
Theres no way SR should even be thinking about giving him another game after the U23s team debacle, the Brentford team he put out, the performance and result. But if that was the case thank goodness for Jones outburst after the game and the subsequent stories of fallings out at the training ground. The pessimistic fans, the realist fans, the positive fans, the fans that try to stay neutral, the fans in the media, those that work closley to the club in the media and even some general football pundits with no interest in Saints at all are all in union on this. SR shouldn't need to take the fans fervour into account here. It's so ****ing obvious that he needs to go asap. One more game solves nothing and will just make it worse. I honestly could see chants for Jones out at the final whistle even if a miracle happened and we beat Wolves. It worries me how reluctant SR seem to be about this.
I think he will be gone, but imagine if he jammed a 1-0 win against Wolves against the run of play from another JWP set piece and it doomed us to another 6 consecutive League losses with 0-1 goals from open play. I never want us to lose but it could be better in the long run, for example winning that City game has probably cost us crucial time.
Stay away Steven! Poch not coming here in a billion years. Gallardo worth a punt. Nuno and Benitez would be good.
