The situation is probably becoming very real for a lot of the players with absolutely no solid leadership anywhere in the club. It doesn’t surprise me at all that NJ wouldn’t even have to be there for things to kick off. The club is an absolutely perfect breeding ground for arguments and a general terrible atmosphere. Not getting Dyche will prove to be a horrific desicion as the weeks go by. Jones has to go but tbh I’m terrified at who they might get to be a replacement. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to start hearing the names of Big Sam or Marky Mark Hughes rearing their ugly heads in the coming week.
How's that? It would be pretty weird if Selles is the problem because he's not been in charge of the games. Thrown under the bus to save face and avoid sacking Jones? Thats a maybe.
I did wonder before Jones came in if there were some bad eggs in the club, players, coaches, higher level staff, owners? Who knows but what I think we can all agree on is that this is not a new thing under Jones, he did not take over a great united club, it was already sinking! I know I've banged this drum a while now and it is looking like Jones is not going to change things but imagine if Dyche had come in and it had been exactly the same? Imagine Jones goes and we get in someone half decent like AVB or Nuno and it is still the same. There's something very fishy(cue the puns!) in our club at the moment but I can't plaice(sorry) my finger on it.
I skipped ahead. Alfie House from the Echo is on from a bit after 36 minutes. No Blackmore yet at 41 minutes.
I have no idea, only that it kicked off off on the training pitch. Im told that by a fitness bloke. Other coaches involved but could just be handbags. He said no NJ though.
He either is really really confident, or doesn’t give a **** because this must be risking his job otherwise, surely?
I have never ever been an advocate of Allardyce at Saints, but he really genuinely cannot be any worse than Jones. I think he is past it as an escape artist of renown though.
The players are definitely at issue too. This has been evident for a long long time imo, like you said this was not a united club. In fact it’s arguable that not since Koeman has there been a long period of time where the players have looked like a team that would run through brick walls for the coach. The Ralph era was consistent is it’s inconsistency. Puel, Pellegrino, Hughes, Ralph and now Jones have all have players down tools under their reign. That’s not a coincidence and it would not surprise me at all if players attitudes are one of the highest problems within the club. It reminds of Chelsea during the John Terry eras where as soon as the players got even a whiff of a manager taking control the players just throw their toys out. Not saying NJ isn’t a ****e coach but the players are in no way shape or form demonstrating commitment to the club or managers and they haven’t for a long time. And now relegation is actually looking possible it doesn’t surprise me at all that we are getting reports of training ground scraps. It’s literally watching people fighting for life boats on a sinking ship.
Could easily have been Cohen or one of the other PE crowd. Interesting that NJ wasn’t there though. That’s odd.
Just speculating from what Tim said about Jones not being here today and it kicked off. If Selles has been pissing players off as well/instead of Jones then would be a plot twist. Wasn’t he brought in in the summer to help Hassenhuttl? Maybe he is the one who loves the back 5 and been given a lot more power than we thought by SR. Tune in tomorrow for more speculative **** from Saintmagic
Apparently there is a random user that joined SW on the 3rd of January. Very pro NJ, replying on the Nathan out thread. One of the last sentences were - well you will be happy now, based on thr constant hope he has gone. Straw clutching I know.
