Thought that was in from Grealish ... City kick the ball out for a corner and complain they don't get a goal kick ffs
This has felt like previous home games vs City in recent years. They control the possession but we look so, so deadly on the counter. Their defence really is easy to get at, we just have to ensure we get the passes right when we do have the ball. Could/ should’ve been 1-1 though, woodwork helping us out there.
I know it’s only one half, but I think you’ve played extremely well. Cut out the supply line to Haaland, got tight to Bernardo Silva when he’s finding pockets in behind the double pivot, doubled up on Grealish and have transitioned/counter attacked superbly with Kane dropping deep to hold the ball up and switch play. Benefiting from Kulusevski and Son’s ball-carrying abilities + pace + intelligent running off the ball. Both wingers have also put in a shift defensively when out of possession. You were a bit fortunate at the end with the miscued clearance that went to Mahrez, but generally, you’ve kept them at bay and had the far better chances. City still look very weak in handling counter attacks. There’s so much space to exploit if you play the right ball. Hopefully you can carry it on in the second half.
Good first half. Which is pretty much a first. Despite playing against 12. Hopefully can keep up the level 2nd half ....even after we are reduced to 10 by that cheating cnut!
Very lucky to be ahead at ht but think we deserved it for the appalling refereeing decisions to be honest. Whatever happens in the second half, this is the best we've played in the first half all season. Is very reminiscent of the last 10-12 games of last season
As an independent observer...have you not seen the 'preferential treatment' the Citeh players are getting from the ref?
Loved the sliding tackle by Romero! It’s something I’m trying to teach my 11 year old to do in his team…obviously I’m telling him he must get the ball though!
Yep lol. I’ve already mentioned it a few times on here that they should have had more bookings and yet you’ve been booked for much lesser fouls. I get the ref is sometimes trying to let the game flow, but he’s also missing obvious fouls and shirt-pulls, grabs etc. City’s rotational fouling still goes unpunished. Not sure what more they have to do before they get yellow carded for it.
Pep has only one way to play, dominate possession and move the ball forward as soon as Spurs attack they try to bring the player down. Spanish football at it's worst.
