If SR don't get rid of him today then the focus should totally switch to them. Jones should never have been anywhere near the shortlist, much less actually appointed. As much as I dislike the fella ( and I really really dislike him) he cannot be blamed for taking the job. **** me, if another organisation offered me the same role with better kit and equipment, nicer stations to work from and tripled my salary, I'd be off at warp speed. SR are responsible for interviewing him. SR are responsible for appointing him. SR are responsible for his continued presence at our club. It's time to switch focus. They're responsible for losing our PL status. The PowerPoint loving twats.
I saw that too. Any chance they’re at a Saints youth game? Lallana’s son is in the academy… ‘Mauricio, would you mind just popping inside for a bit? And by a bit I mean for four months.’
Oh ffs. Any other chips you want to piss on? Maybe head to a local primary school and tell them Santa isn't real? Cheers LTL
I never wanted Ralph out, always thought we had enough and with decent additions in January, would be fine. I think I may have changed my vote in the Ralph poll right at the end to something like maybe a change could be good. I was always reluctant to get rid of someone who had lost their way a bit but truly cared for our club. I always thought the grass isn't always greener and all that. I back NJ before he came as surely SR know what they are doing. I backed NJ throughout since he arrived and thought the treatment of him before he even signed was appalling. Like others have said you can't blame anyone for jumping to a Premier League club. I have always been of the thinking that until we get some players in, then Jones can't be fully blamed for results. I still think we have recruited well, both in the summer and now, obviously not signing a striker and DM cover in the summer did not help us. I have always liked Jones bullish attitude win, lose or draw(funny how we have never drawn with him) and feel things could have been different if more fans gave him a chance instead of chanting various things at him pretty much from the off. There is lots of speculation regarding things behind the scenes, we will never know the full truth and maybe if we did, we would cut NJ some slack or maybe we would feel even worse about him. He is acting like a child who has been caught in the wrong, my kids do it all the time, they say sorry for the thing but also push the blame elsewhere saying if this other thing hadn't have happened then the thing they are accused of wouldn't have happened so therefore it's not their fault. I don't know why DCC played for the U23 team the other night, I don't know why Oršić wasn't in the squad. Maybe this was Jones decision, maybe it was SR decision, who knows. Why the constant changing of systems and formations, who knows? Every game until the end of the season is a cup final, so we need to play a system, stick with it and stick with as much of an unchanged side as we can, play our best players. If and when Jones goes, he shouldn't be blamed forever more for the results we have seen. The board appointed him, the players at times have played for him like they did at times for Ralph. He can't be a terrible manager or he wouldn't have got the job or done a great job at Luton, getting manager of the year etc, but he probably isn't the right fit for us, certainly not what we need now, if his team's take time to implement then really SR have messed this up and should have just stuck with Ralph, got to the window and given him what he wanted, for whatever reason they did not, they listened to outside noise and unfortunately Ralph paid the price. If NJ stays, then if you hate him, just forget him, support the players, some of which have just decided to join us. Things can't get any worse, we are bottom but just maybe with or without NJ these players can see our passion when things are at rock bottom and we can help rouse them into making another great escape a reality! UTS!!
This is Nathan's Prayer every night: Dear God... That did not happen. And if it did, it was not that bad. And if it was, that is not a big deal. And if it is, that is not my fault. And if it was, I did not mean it. And if I did... they deserved it. Amen
Annoyingly the best candidate for us right now is the Ralph we signed 4 years ago, before 4 years of no investment and over achieving caught up with him and forced him to doubt his philosophies and style of play. If we had spent the January £50m on top forward players in the summer then I fully believe we would be top half or at least mid table.
Agreed and that is why I didn't blame Ralph for our form, he was a miracle worker under Gao and SR just didn't give him what we could all see he needed. This is why I have sympathy for Jones and will not hate the guy and call him names etc. Yeah he hasn't helped himself with some of his comments especially after yesterday's game but he was already swimming against the tide before he even came in and many of us just didn't want to give him a chance. You will feel vindicated right now as you have got what you predicted, crap results and a manager out of his depth who has to go. Maybe this would have happened even if we were all overly nice to him from the off, but maybe, just maybe he could have done well. We will never know!
Agreed - there are a few things which have annoyed me about Jones such as the fact he still seems to refer to himself his coaches as "we" and Saints as "the club" - but my biggest criticism is that he has no identity or belief in how to play football, he just says he wants to win games which is confusing for players. That isn't his fault though, that is just his management style, SR should get the blame for hiring someone that doesn't fit the club, players and our way of working.
