He's done an absolutely incredible job at Liverpool all things considered. Last season, they were 2 games away from a quadruple last season and ended up falling just short on the 2 major trophies which I think must have exhausted them mentally and physically. Sir Alex Ferguson was the master of refreshing a squad when they we're successful to make sure that the desire was still there, but Liverpool haven't been able to do that. They could only give the bumper contract to either Mane or Salah and it looks like they picked the wrong one. They've never found a settled partner for Van Dijk. He's always carried them to an extent but he's maybe not capable of that anymore. The midfield looks disjointed now. Henderson has passed his peak and is on the decline at that elite level which is showing up all of their other weaknesses. Thiago is incredible when fit but there's no depth behind and the lack of positional awareness in the midfield is exposing Trent's flaws even more. Unfortunately for Liverpool, it's a huge rebuild that's needed and the owners don't have the appetite for it, let alone Klopp. Next year we could see a total change of power in the Premier League. Man United will have been taken over and will have a fresh injection of cash from a wealthy billionaire. Spurs are being heavily linked to Qatari money. Newcastle will obviously spend massively, Man City are Man City and I'd expect a more settled Chelsea to be pushing for the title. Liverpool are up for sale but the rumoured interest has been about Qatari and Saudi money (which their fans are quite rightly against). If they don't get a takeover though, 7th could quite quickly become their ceiling. It also makes it so important for Arsenal to win the league this season. I think that would prompt Kroenke to walk away and allow someone else to pump the billions into them to keep them fighting for titles. Ultimately, what I'm saying is that we've ended up with a Super League whether we wanted it or not.
Always been the case certain teams will dominate for a period of time then all change. Difference this time is that it is money driven and there is unlikely to be much change in the clubs at that table!
Massive rebuild for them in the summer. Looking at their side yesterday, the likes of Gomes, Matip, Kieta aren't anywhere near the standard required and will probably be moved on, plus with Hendo on the decline as you say (get yersel home Jordan lad). Milner can't be getting another season at that level, the fullbacks look a shadow of themselves and Nunez hasn't looked good for all the money he cost. **** knows who they will buy because Chelsea will probably sign another 20 players in the summer.
Basically it boils down to them having Hughie Gallagher, Jackie Millburn and Len White as centre forwards who were prolific for them and there a while in their history. That's it. We could do the same if we wanted to go on about Bobby Gurney, Dave Halliday, Brian Clough and so on the same way. So could most other clubs.
It's like the so-called "West Ham way" that no-one can explain Always cringe at the "they love a striker up there" comment about the mags as if that's something unusual "Strikers? Nah, ****ing hate them mate"
It was obvious he was going to be very good when we saw him on loan at Lincoln a couple of years ago, but he's stepped up a level twice in 2 years and still looks like the best player in the group. There's a top 6 move on the cards for him in the next couple of years I think. His dad had a few decent seasons in the championship back in the day too.
Stoke fans on Alex Neil... He’s garbage he was the day he was appointed it’s another truly terrible management appointment up, there with ‘our diabolical worst. how nice does that Sunderland job look now Alex????!!! ------------------------------------------------------- Stoke fan with a strange comment on Ross Stewart... He looks... Really ordanairy tbh Just sticks the ball in the net a lot He looks a bit of a target man without being obviously so --------------------------------------------------------- Back to Alex Neil... Picking up Norwich in January and getting them promoted to the Prem. Picking up Sunderland in February after a 6-0 loss, and losing 1 game in 20-odd and getting them up. He comes in here and created all the spark of a wet fart. ------------------------------------------------------------ At least a wet fart gets you out of your seat. ------------------------------------------------------------ He just sounds like a bloke who thinks he might have made the worst decision of his life sacking off Sunderland to come to Stoke Don’t know why he left Sunderland to manage this crap squad https://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/ Yeah, they arent happy and a wee bit bitter.
I remember hid dad playing, he was a fast little striker, mainly at Ipswich from what I can recall. Johnson wouldn't look out of place at Arsenal or part of the rebuild at Man Utd tbh. I said whatever Forest won the playoffs that he would be staying in the PL regardless of what happens to forest this season.
His post match interview popped up on my twitter feed and some of the comments on that were hilarious. Can't wait for the baldy little ****wit to come up here. Not long to go now.
This Gnonto lad is an exciting player too, he won't be at Leeds for very long. I'm still surprised that a 19 year old forward who has already played 9 times for Italy has at this point in his career played for Zurich and Leeds.
