It showed a lot from our defence today, they threw on 2 big lads and aside from a lucky deflection that lead to a big chance they had next to nothing and our lads headed and cleared everything.
Not a great spectacle, but I for one have had a brill afternoon. On cloud 9. Having won the Corendon Raich Carter lounge draw, what a treat, have had a fantastic footy afternoon with my gorg little sister, great hospitality, a City win, 3 points, clean sheet. Just buzzing, again. First half we dominated, had we took our chances, could have been 2 or 3 up. Cardiff looked poor and there for the taking. Alas, we let them off the hook, and gave them a way in with the penalty. Great, great save from Matt. Second half very scrappy affair, we eventually got a good goal. I thought we never really looked in danger from Cardiff, more in danger from the poor ref/officials who seemed intent in giving them all the decisions. Cardiff were more dominant with their subs, bringing their giants on, but all credit to Liam & City, we stood up to the pressure and ground it out, important to back up the win from last week with another 3 points. Mouth watering to think how much better we could be when we get the likes of Tetteh, Alayar, Pelkas & Ebiowei fit & playing. As I said, not a fine spectacle, but what the heck, 3 points, clean sheet, happy Tigress. UTT.
I think most games in this league anyone can beat anyone however wins breed confidence which can take you on a good run. Take today though if they had scored that penalty it could have been different outcome. Let's hope the wins continue.
Sort of! Just over a year ago, last Jan, I won the MKM yellow sofa, best seats gig, which was just before my sister went into hospital to start her health battle. Where does the time go? A year on, this week I won this Raich Carter lounge draw thing, perfect timing as she is now on road to recovery, hopefully, out of isolation periods. I’m cherishing every opportunity to be together. Puts football into perspective, but it was always a goal for her during dark periods to look forward to getting back to see City.
My wife and sister also spent 2022 battling with health issues; one unable to swallow for 9 months due to radiotherapy, the other spending weeks in hospital, ICU and undergoing reconstructive surgery. It's hard for all to cope with. Bloody hard. But thanks to our wonderful NHS - which must never be destroyed - we battle on. Sending loads of positivity to gorg little sister. #UTT.
Not our best performance but another big win. Thought we went a bit flat after an excellent start and let them back into it, although they never really troubled us all afternoon. Ingram and both CBs were excellent against a team of giants, showed how well Liam has us organised these days. 9 conceded in 12 isn't to be sniffed at. Everything just seems to be coming together nicely. I'm so optimistic about both the manager and ownership and where this could take us. Dare to dream.
Didn't understand the Connolly substitution when Oscar looked like he was treading water. Other than that nothing much to add. It was a poor game, but 3 points are most welcome. Cardiff look in trouble.
Getting the 3 points from those kind of games/performances is the foundation for a promotion pushing team. If I'm being really critical, I think Rosie made a mistake today that could have cost us, bringing Connolly off for Greaves just invited way to much extra pressure on us. Connolly was causing them all sorts of issues and taking that off let them push us further up in our half. Greaves coming on was the correct choice but replacing Connolly wasn't Side note.... Greaves has to stop holding onto shirts, it's becoming a really frustrating side of his game, there was a couple of times today he probably should have been punished for it, some games he'll get away with it like today, but he will cost us at some point if he keeps doing it
Thought taking Tufan off after we scored was an error he was finally working well with Christie they kept the ball upfield . After he went off it came back . Slater has to be the slowest runner in the team on our side he just seemed to be running in sand . He’s not a wide man . And please please yet again tell Jones as he’s right footed to try playing the ball that way instead of into the middle almost every time ! He played well otherwise but he needs to be more positive on the ball - get him to look up and not just down in the direction he’s facing , little things would make him a much better player - mind you Doch who had a good second half and Macca could improve on that area .
Agreed, just imagine the strength of the subs bench when we get all the players back out even a few off them. There won't be many stronger subs benches in the championship. Glad you won the prize HT. Summat I've never managed in all the years of supporting the club that is watching a game from the private boxes.
