Think it's fair to say that Liam is getting a tune out of them, now 12th just 4 points off play offs, didn't see today's game, or hear it, but reading the comments sounds like we defended manfully and Ingram saved us a couple of times, onwards and upwards, and with players coming back too ! Slightly optimistic!!
Phew, hard earned three points against a determined Cardiff side. Ingram was outstanding again and the defense toughed it out despite some hairy moments. Two home wins on the bounce, what's not to like.
Great to get the win though pretty close run thing. Don’t think we played as well as last week. First half both Tufan and Elder were poor, though both improved slightly. Good thing Christie is prepared to have a crack. Anyway, lots of hard work and fab to get three points.
Two home wins and two clean sheets on the bounce. Thought they were piss-poor for 75 minutes. Easily the worst team we’ve played at the MKM this season. Also, is it just me or did Connolly throw a massive strop at being subbed off?
Well the obligatory 3 points and a clean sheet shout from me, but, thought it was a crap game and we were not at the top of our game. We defended well but sloppy and wasteful in the middle of the park with even Seri unable to conjure up his usual magic. If we are to make the top six then we have to be more creative than today, and in that department we only had Christie that was up to speedl; although Tufan was looking tio create something on occasion but mainly his final touch was lacking and his final pass did not have the precision needed. Ocar and Connolly huffed and puffed but lacked any real penetration. Thiink we need Tetteh when he has finishied his suspension to be given a chance to play the Oscar role. Jones and Mclaughlin deserve credit for their fine displays at the heart of the defense and of course Ingram for his terrrific penalty save. His leap to his right took his arms past the side post, not sure how he did that without some very early anticipation. I like Elder but Greaves back in next game. Oh and credit to Cardiff they were unfortunate that they got nothing from the game.
Cardiff were poor for 3/4 of the game .... then for the last 1/4 suddenly looked a good team with pace, trickery, height, winning 2nd balls, etc. Funny old game. Just glad they didn't wake up until too late.
I enjoyed the game but didnt if that makes sense. A bit of a reality check today that we are still far from the finished article but winning ultimately is all that matters. LR says its about the performance and not the result, tonight I think he might be saying the opposite. As has been said, Cardiffs position may be a bit false, thats the last 3 games away they've lost 1-0...
I thought they looked totally dross both times we’ve played them this season. They have their glimpses of being dangerous and scoring in short periods of the game but they look very poor.
Tufan made too many mistakes today in promising positions. It was the right decision to take him off, but Longman was a big downgrade. He was in the thick of it a few times but not convinced he actually touched the ball after he came on. We really had to hang in. Their number 25, Etete? was running rings around us.
Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm delighted because in the Championship you have to show two sides to your game to be consistent. "Obviously we're playing good football at times, but what you need is character and resilience and fight. We're difficult to score against, we're hard to beat and that gives us a real platform to do well in this league. "The lads need to look at how we've improved. We were conceding a lot of goals before we came in and that's another clean sheet and it's not just down to Matty [Ingram] and the defenders. Cardiff City manager Sabri Lamouchi: "Big frustration tonight, one more time, because it's a bad result but not a bad performance. "Unfortunately we are in a bad moment and in a bad moment we might be more patient, more realistic, more pragmatic, to do the simple things, take the right decisions and score when they give us the opportunity to score. "That's why we are frustrated. We have to show the players that our performance was not so bad. I like the last 25 minutes in the first half and the spirit in the second half. But we should be more aggressive in the two boxes."
I can't agree with those saying that cardiff were crap. We started very well but faded after 20 minutes. Cardiff played themselves into the game and allowing for the fact that we sat back their wingers were very good. mcloughlin for me was our man of the match. I would like to see him and greaves play at the back together. Why do they have to be right footed. Elder had a poor first half but he improved and i hope we keep him as he's a decent player off the bench . Suprised he took Connolly off as he offered more than oscar both in defence and attack. Lots of our attacking passes went astray and it was one of those days. To come away with a win shows for me how we've grown defensively under rosenior. If these attacking players hit the ground running then we have a real chance of challenging higher up . Ive booked my away tickets for stoke , norwich and bristol. These next half a dozen games are massive. Such a great time to be a tiger. Thank you acun. Edit mcloughlin was 3rd mom behind ingram and Christie. Great effort though
Never going to sniff at 3 points but felt today was a bit subject. Teams have rightly sussed our game flows through Seri and our plan B is to play the channels long but no pace in the wide areas caused us issues. Hopefully the return of Pelkas and Tetteh with Ebiowei coming in will mean we have some options. We also probably need some support for Seri creatively in the middle against teams like this. We lost a lot of the midfield battle in the second half. Slater and Doc got bullied by some of their big lads and I felt Tufan faded away before being subbed off. Also noticing a trend at home games where they start brightly creating a few chances and if they dont score then they can fizzle out a bit. On the positive is that they wouldn't have won that game a month ago. Good solid mentality and defended really well (again). Ingram clearly showing why he should keep his spot and Christie once again showing why he's probably our best bit of business in the summer. Onwards and upwards. Beat Stoke next week and the dream really is on
Pleased with 1.0, we were hanging on towards the end but a win is 3 more points and it was so important after last weekend's victory. It also gives us another week to get the injured nearer a return whilst moving up the table. Well done to all especially Ingram who made a couple of really vital saves.
