Everything has its place imo. Leave studies at 16 or go on I don't see a problem. Some degrees are a waste of time, but others in worthwhile professions you need to be there into your mid-twenties to gain the skills and knowledge to do the job, like if you're looking to be a doctor, an architect or aeronautical engineer for example. Most leave university by 22 though and those staying to 23 usually have a year out in industry which is a good thing. Apprenticeships is becoming huge and a good alternative to degrees with a lot of employers coming on board to work with schools as a pathway into a wide range of industries.
So what you are telling me is that the Tories got the structure right and Blair and Labour when last in power got it terribly wrong, I hear you bruv, say no more.
Unfortunately our biggest problem in terms of growth is the lack of an available skilled workforce. Add to that, lack of suitable investment in research and development. So I'm afraid the answer to that is no.
Lol, Blair had them all studying media degrees, hence why you said, 'Apprenticeships is becoming huge and a good alternative to degrees with a lot of employers coming on board to work with schools as a pathway into a wide range of industries.' Kids taking the correct path now, we can see that from the conversations since yesterday in the comments. Imagine Blair Starmer get's in power, they will be forcing them in to the workplace again, by pricing them out of education. Like your idea yesterday of charging the kids for their books and pens, maybe I should write to my local Labour MP, and pass on your tremendous idea. Fook the poor, buy a bike.
13 years of Tory rule and Brexit has flushed productivity down the toilet in this country. But you want to harp back to Blair lol. People are still studying media degrees in universities bro, they aint banned them. The past 13 years have had just as many good and bad degrees as ever. And apprenticeships are growing now no thanks to the Tories but businesses and schools taking a lead, What comments, you mean the ones about milk rounds and work experience in estate agents? Those comments, k bro
Yeah it's important to state what Labour did last time they were in power, they put all the kids in debt. Vastly improved since Tory power, you said it yourself, don't say you've forgotten already, here mate, let me help you... 'Apprenticeships is becoming huge and a good alternative to degrees with a lot of employers coming on board to work with schools as a pathway into a wide range of industries.' You said yourself parents/kids should be made to pay for education, such as books and pens, so they paid attention in class.
Oh btw Trebs, I wasn't the one who brought up about milk rounds. I said paper rounds and other jobs (non specific) I believe.
You're so fcking binary it's unreal I've highlighted the bit in your post you skipped over - no mention of Tories. And the only thing I said we should be doing was - You should be grateful you live in a country where you get it at a fraction of the price from taxes which are paid by all of us to raise you and your children. Kids going to university are still getting into huge debt bro. No improvement there soz.
Yeah debt, I agree, all started by Labour. Tories have been trying to fix what Labour broke, by going back to what we used to have, I quote: 'Apprenticeships is becoming huge and a good alternative to degrees' 'becoming' is the big give away in that sentence. Not sure how poor kids will pay for their books and pens, as you described yesterday, but who am I to argue with a striking teacher.
So you're just going to ignore what I say and pick bits out of context to make up your own story I see why you left school at 15.
Do in this village. I get mine delivered. I was the richest kid in school when I was on the milk. No shame here.
I'm merely pointing out the statements you made.... Kids (or parents) should pay for their own books and pens at school, so they paid attention in class. You also said: 'Apprenticeships is becoming huge and a good alternative to degrees' - which was my whole point about degrees, that I felt apprenticeships were better, and you have agreed. You also stated clearly that they were 'becoming huge' bearing in mind it's a Tory government in power, not an education charging Labour government, who think along your lines of charging for education.
Yeah I thought they did exist or made a comeback, great job btw helping out on a milk round, especially round Christmas time.
Nope never said kids or parents should pay for anything. Alternative does not mean better lol You struggle with comprehension mate. You should've stayed the extra year in school.
No mate once again you're struggling. I asked you a question. About the comments you claimed ppl had made re the pathway kids could now take. I'm still waiting for the answer.
