I'm not big on any of these sports but none of these teams sound particularly impressive. They're not the biggest names in their field for sure.

HBSE owns and operates the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association, the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League, the Delaware Blue Coats of the NBA G League, the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League, and the esports organization Dignitas, among other properties.[1]

Sounds like they run a bunch of "Everton-level"teams. We would be by far the biggest gem in their crown, but they're spread so thin and I think we really would be treated like a franchise under them. You cant really focus or be experts when you're properties cross so many sports and you have so many little teams. Even if we're their biggest team, we'd still be one of many. We wouldn't be a priority.

    that's not fair.

they run semi pro teams in semi pro leagues.

at least Everton are semi pro in a apro league.

that list is a bunch of minority sports, ice hockey with presepct to it is at least the 5ths sport after nfl, nba, baseball and even soccer. it just is. they've minor league teams and just the club fsg were interested in getting into for nba.

no marks is the best way to regard that list.

Fact there has only been 2 bidders for ManU, one of which is slightly suspect (aren't some Man U fans saying the Qatari's are bidding so that the Glaziers can get a higher price out of any real bidders?).
Anyway the point was, ManU are one of the most profitable brands in world football and they can only attract two bidders.

Good to see John Henry has morals. He rejected a Qatari bid. He has said that it's not all about money but also important who invests. He appears to want to back out bit by bit rather than a full sale. I've said this before, of course, and been shouted down with he won't care whose hands we're in when he leaves. Just my opinion.

Will our team have to throw fold up chairs at each other at halftime?

I'd like to believe that's true but sincerely doubt it. If a Qatari group bid enough, he'd sell

Maybe, maybe not - I wouldn't presume to know what's in his head, what his morals are, or the price on them.

Do find it funny that pre World Cup Nev was on his high horse about Qatar.. then tries to justify going out there to commentate by saying he’ll use it as a platform to raise it.

Now he’s done a whole thing on it an pretty much saying well the horse has bolted from state ownership instead of coming out and saying how it would be morally wrong for his beloved club to be owned by them.

Unlike lots of others on here I didn't mind GNev as a co-commentator most of the time (obvious club rivalry apart), but his mealy-mouthed excuses for attending the WC were weak and transparently self-serving imo.
His latest nonsense has lowered him further in my estimation. Saying it's ok because others do it is not, and has never been, a valid excuse for anything.

Wasn't claiming to know what's in his head, just being it on him being a businessman

I know, but it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that there are ethical businessmen, and - on the face of it at least, he seems that way. He appears the type of old-fashioned American that pride themselves on being a gent and an honest dealer.
It's certainly the image he likes to portray.
Whether or not he has any skeletons in his cupboard I have no idea, obviously.
Anyway, he's not selling, but has said we're open to investment so I suppose eventually we'll see what sort of bedfellows we're happy to have.

He didn't come off that way when he wanted to join a ESL... <whistle>

He's been very good for us imo but I wouldn't trust him still

I'm guessing he thought that was a good business move for the club and didn't anticipate the reaction. He's always been slow to understand the mood of the fans. He's learned that the hard way a few times.
The "old -fashioned" attitude I referred to might extend to thinking "it's my club and I'll do what I want with it".

I honestly don't know what will happen, but as I've said all along I'll just wait and see. I have few expectations, but I really hope we don't ever go down the state-ownership route.

Interestingly, there seems to be significant opposition to a Qatari takeover of Man U amongst their fans as well.
