Over the years the FA, in collusion with the likes of the BBC and ITV have done their utmost to take the magic out of the respective rounds, by having stupid days of the week to play matches on and/or equally stupid kick off times.

And they wonder why people of a certain age aren't the avid supporters and followers that they used to be.

I’m not so sure the away end will if it’s on a Weds 7.45, allowing for poss ET and pens that’s a late finish to then have to get back to Manchester, it’s not like we’re a big tie for them.

    They did the last time?
That could have gone to ET and pens as well.
Likewise we took 7 thousand to Anfield on a midweek game

I would imagine Pep would field a few second team players, with the ‘big guns’ on the bench to come on in the second half if they haven’t broken us us down by 60 minutes.

May well I plucked the figure out the air.
Back then we had to queue up for tickets and present stubs of the first game as well to get one.

I remember it well, we had a private coach, ran out of beer by the time we got to Gloucester and filled the coach loo!! That and the first game in Div 1 v Arsenal were the highlights of my away days with the City...

I don’t go to many away games, I went to both of those, agree they are the highlights, along with Coventry away, we were 2-0 down, drew back to 2-2, I know Gow scored one, I think it was the equaliser, not sure who scored the other, Ritchie maybe?, the game was 20 mins late kicking off, and 2-2 meant both us and Coventry stayed up, as Sunderland lost. Coventry put the score up with 15 mins to go, so both teams when they had the ball passed it around in their own half. Amazing scenes.

I was at Arsenal, Coventry and Liverpool.

Our Minibus broke down on the way to Liverpool but got there in time. It broke down 3 times before we got to the motorway on the way back, it died in Birmingham service's and we all came back in an AA Lorry arriving in Portishead at 9am.

I haven't been to many away games watching City. I can list them here they have been so few:
Mansfield Town, Walsall, Reading, Swindon (several times, unsurprisingly), Notts Forest (several times), Twerton Park (when the gas played there), Wolves, Brighton, Preston NE, Blackpool. Plus the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and both the old and new Wembleys

I have been to Sheffield United's Bramall Lane and Coventry's Ricoh grounds, but that was for rock concerts, not football.

Funniest away game I went to was Cambridge. We was pissed, not the driver, he was my brother and he’s deaf, and got lost. We pulled over and I asked this old man “how do we get to Cambridge” and he looked in the car at us all and said “****ing study hard if I were you”

Off topic I know (apologies) but the son of my old manager (whio is still a friend) where I worked previously was a school friend of my son. He was brilliant at maths - better than the teacher. He ended up going to Cambridge and absolutely nailed it there. He was headhunted to work on the Particle Accelerator in Switzerland (established professors actually APPLIED to work on it).
He’s been offered loads of 6-7 figure salary jobs - mainly by gaming companies, but he’s not interested in money - he’s gone back to Cambridge as a lecturer. He just absolutely loves study.

My greatest memory of City away was at Leeds and the famous 1-0 win in the FA Cup Replay in 1974. Early afternoon kick off due to the 3 day week and electricity being in short supply. 50 years on and nothing much has changed in that respect !
Also seen us at Eastville, Twerton, Bournemouth, Chesterfield, Blackpool, Reading, Hartlepool, Colchester, Torquay, Chelsea, old Wembley and new Wembley etc

I have also visited Upton Park, White Hart Lane, Molyneux, The Hawthorns, Villa Park (a work training course!), Ayresome Park, and the Old Wembley for speedway World Finals of 1975, 1978 and 1981

Been to quite a few speedway stadiums, most of which are no longer standing more's the shame
Eastville, Weymouth, Reading, Exeter, Swindon, White City, Oxford, Cradley Heath, Middlesbrough, Hull, Belle Vue Manchester when it was part of a complex that included a Zoo !

I shared the memories of Arsenal and Liverpool but the one I enjoyed most was the 76/77 season at Upton Park, West Han did us 2-0 but watching Chis Garland come up against Bobby Moore was magic in itself, talk about master and pupil, the first away game I ever took Mrs Wiz too, great night out in London at the Marquee Club, never forget it.
