England vs Spain... Iker Casillas. A captain and Goalkeeper who has won about every trophy under the sun. At just 30, he will probably smash all appearance records for club and country. Being a goal keeper, he has a good 10 years left in him at the top level. But what do you make of him as a goalkeeper? Is he as great as his trophy cabinet would suggest? Or has he been fortunate to have always been involved and a part of great sides?...
Hes unreal in my opinion, so consistent, Valdes on the other hand is in my opinion the weak link in Barcas team, that and Abidal at LB. Edit: Just realised I rambled on about Barca, got carried away with Valdes comparisons
He's always been a fantastic keeper, one of the best shot stoppers in the world, there was a period a few years back when Madrid were going through that 'transitional stage' and were completely ****, yet he was the only player on the pitch that was saving them points week in week out, if it weren't for him then Madrid could of easily ended up mid-table. He fully deserves the praise he gets it just a shame (and ironic) that he's is world class and Madrid didn't spend a penny on him!
Certainly a shout for the best in the world, even with the emergence of Neuer etc recently. Probably the best shot stopper around as well.
Stekelenburg had a great world cup, but I thought he wasnt that highly rated? He's got a hell of a job on his hands keeping his place for the Euros with Vorm and Krul in this form.
Yeh, Kruls muscled in on a few games for Holland which is great for the lad. Ive seen Roma on a few italian highlight shows this year and he looks a class act.
Cech isnt quite where he used to be, should have saved van Persie's last one in the 5-3 for example but just helped it into the net. Is Cesar at Milan still doing well?
All valid points and in fairness I don't watch too much Spanish football so I ironically I can't really comment on the topic... Does the usual, "if he'd been a playing in the Premier League" debate have any justification here?...
People would inevitably question whether he can hack it on a wet windy Monday night at Stoke, which is probably why Stoke are the current world champions.
I really don't rate him for some reason. He doesn't look confident to me and he fluffs it every so often, or whatever the dutch word for 'makes a tit of himself' is. Best keeper for me is Casillas, but i really like the look of de gea. Unfortunately i can see him being absolutely brilliant in a few years.
I don't think Hitler deserves to be top of that list. Agree with Stoke and Monday's though. Can i replace Hitler with British Television?
