3 National Hunt cards on Tuesday from Huntingdon, Lingfield and Sedgefield with Bordeaux Le Buscat serving up a nice mixed card in the provinces.

Flinty Bay and Jukebox Melody catch the eye at Sedgefield, and my German wife fancies a bit of Schinken Otto ;)

At Lingfield Park I'm sure Sir Barney Chuckles will be giving us a strong fancy ;)

Finally at Huntingdon I'm sure John Ferguson will know the score with Cry Of Freedom, who has previously finished within shouting distance of such well know types as Sri Putra and Donativum, and the most exciting novice chaser in training Australia Day, will hopefully give us another exhilarating display of fencing.

Nap of the day runs in the lucky last at Huntingdon and is picked in honour of our marvellous moderator - Ron (NAP) is trained by Mark Tompkins and goes in the junior bumper. Peter Carberry takes off a useful 5 and he can provide all forumites with a spectacular end to the day.

    Come one Ron !!!!!!!!!

Ron - think "Come On Eileen" by Dexys Midnight Runners, not "Cum on Eileen" by some dodgy LA porn producer <ok>

    3.40 Lingfield

    Chicklemix 7/1

Quite like the look of Pam Sly’s relatively unexposed 5 year old mare. After making her debut in a Bumper in 2010, she came out on her next start in the same discipline at Fakenham to win by 3.25L in the soft. The 3rd horse Francesca has won off a mark of 109 on hurdles (this was her debut) and although I wouldn’t look too much into this form it shows she at least beat horses of some talent. I found it quite interesting that after this Chicklemix was stepped into 2 Listed bumpers and despite being outclassed in both, I think it demonstrates that the Sly yard think a little bit about her. After this Chicklemix posted 2 placed efforts (beaten by 10L+) on both occasions in a maiden and a novice hurdle.

In February of this year, Chicklemix made her handicap debut off a mark of 99 on heavy ground at Warick over 2m when finishing 3rd 2L behind the winner Dormouse. The form of this race looks pretty good as Dormouse has subsequently come out and won by 4.5L off a 2lb higher mark after a few poor efforts. The 2nd Monsieur finished 2nd off the same mark on his next start and the 5th won by 3.5L off a 3lb lower mark so it seems pretty solid all round form. Chicklemix’s next start came at Huntingdon where she was stepped up to 22fs at Huntingdon where she finished a remote 4th off a mark of 102. She was unusually dropped out the back probably to ensure she got the trip but I think its an effort worth ignoring.

After about a 45 day break, Chicklemix broke her duck over obstacles when landing a 5 runner contest at Fakenham over 20f in April. That day she won off a mark of 102 on good to firm ground, beating a very fast finishing Not So Sure Dick by a head. After travelling like the best horse by a long way for most of the journey, jockey Gina Andrews took up the running about 3f out and although she maintained this lead until the final flight, I believe a combination of idling and tiredness saw Not So Sure Dick make up a lot of ground after the final flight and with another stride would have taken the race. The form of this race looks strong as well. Not So Sure Dick has subsequently won off the same mark of 105, beating Promised Wings by 2.25L with the latter horse demonstrating this form was solid by losing by 0.25L on his latest start. Allthough Chicklemix ‘disappointed’ as 1/2 favourite on her 2nd last outing off a mark of 108, the 2 horses in front of her were improving types with the 2nd Sharadiyn winning twice impressive including off a mark of 108.

On her latest start, Chicklemix was rather unlucky when departing the race still travelling comfortably when stumbling 4 out over 2m at Fakenham a few weeks ago. She jumped the hurdle fine and it was pretty unfortunate that she stumbled and fell. She was fitted with a hood for the first time that day and she seemed to have no adverse problem with it which is a positive as it retained for her race tomorrow. Although it is purely speculation, when analysing the way the other horses were travelling then it is hard to envisage that Chicklemix would have finished out of the first 2. Dormouse, a distance 4th that day, is the only horse to have run subsequently which resulted in an impressive victory off a 2lb lower mark as stated earlier so it doesn’t look like a terrible affair.

Tomorrow Chicklemix tackles 2m at Lingfield for the first time and I think it is the right decision to keep her at this trip as she seemed to be slightly stretched over trips that were half a mile longer. She races off a mark of 106 tomorrow and I think this mark is fully within her compass considering she won off only a 4lb lower mark. On the basis of her last effort she seemed to be getting back to her best although she was never asked for any effort so it is hard to know how well she would have completed her race. The form of the races where she has done relatively well looks pretty solid so there aren’t any concerns on my part to the authenticity of her form. Trainer Pam Sly sends 2 to Lingfield tomorrow and although she has never had a winner at the track before she has only sent 3 horses previously to the venue so I think that may be significant. Sly has been amongst the winners recently with 3 winners from her last 14 runners as well as a couple of placed efforts. Jockey Dave England, who was on board LTO, takes the ride again tomorrow and it represents his only ride of the day. If feeling no ill effects of her fall a couple of weeks ago than I think the 7/1 currently on offer is far too big and I’ll be pretty surprised if she doesn’t make the frame.

Morning, all. Hope everyone well. I'll nominate a couple at Lingfield Park this afternoon where they race over the old sticks rather than on the all-weather. Both are incidentally trained by the forum's favourite, Mr Henderson. And one of these, as my regular readers will testify, I have been waiting a year for to go over timber! They are:

Heather Royal (1.10 Lingfield Park) - what a lovely name for a mare, by the way. This one is very well bred for the NH game being a half-sister to several winners including the legendary, and I do mean legendary, Barbers Shop. Heather Royal was a facile winner on debut, 18 months ago, before disappointing somewhat in 2 other bumpers at the back end of the season. She was all set to make her hurdling bow 12 months ago, at Ascot, but contracted colic the day before. Hence Heather Royal being kept to bumpers during the closing stages of last term in order that she could have a 'full' season as a novice hurdler. I really hope that she can fulfil the undoubted potential she displayed back in the summer of 2010 by winning today and then going on to much better things.

Mister Dillon (2.10 Lingfield Park) - another nicely bred type being a half-brother to numerous winners including Dancing Bay who was Group/Graded placed on both the flat and over hurdles. Mister Dillon did well in his bumper starts, earlier in the term, finishing 3rd, first time up, prior to scoring nicely under today's pilot, Jeremiah McGrath, at Southwell. Hopefully, he can transfer that level of form to hurdling. The mare of Colin Tizzard's, at the foot of the old weights, is also very nicely bred, but I'll side with Mr Henderson's charge here.

    Good luck all.
