I'm gonna go for a draw here. Feels like we've not had one of those for a while.

Whatever happens it can't be worse than last season's game up there?

    Can it?!

We all want a win but a draw would be a very decent result here and the point should be enough to take us of the bottom. The home game with wolves the following week is more important to win.

I just think we could all do with seeing a good performance and getting something out of the game. Come on NJ, show us something that will give us hope :emoticon-0148-yes:

Tbh I’m a bit scared. We are even worse and they are even better than last year.

It’s actually really quite simple, isn’t it?

The team ought to be picking itself by now. Tinkering in the first month is normal, you would expect him to know his best team. One maybe 2 changes at a time

That team you picked (or a slight variation of personnel therein) is just so blisteringly obvious though. Even to us lot who don’t really know too much.

Agree with the above comments that it should be simple.

I can, a tiny bit, see what I think NJ has been trying to do with picking Lyanco at RB or Salisu LB - I suspect it's for defending set pieces where he effectively gets an extra centre back style player to help defend (given we are not very good at them).

But we have seen in whatever guise and formation, if we hand the impetus to the opposition we are not strong. If we take it to them we give a good game.

So let's go 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 and go for it against Brentford. If Toney gets a goal for them, we'll just attack even more.

Ralph came in and tried to shore up the defence and eventually gave up and decided our best bet to win games was to attack and outscore the opposition. Not much has changed since and it's time for Jones to do the same.

Assuming new signings aren't ready to go straight in, I'd go with Lovelocum's lineup, with the new boys coming on 2nd half to in theory make us even stronger for the last 20 mins.

    I’d be happy with that.
Rumours are that KWP might be off in the summer and I think we run the risk of losing Perraud as well, if we keep dropping him to shoehorn a CB or RB into his position.
Maybe Luton have a decent LB that Jones wants? :emoticon-0112-wonde

There’s a high chance that Everton Bomo Wolves and Spam lose Saturday, so in my dreams if we can win that would change the look of things a lot

We need the big guy and the fast guy in asap

I would start with Bedders, thought he looked good 2nd half v Toon

Sally is still error prone, hope that changes soon

    Team I’m expecting to see

    Bazunu
    Bree
    Lyanco
    Bednarek
    Salisu
    Perraud
    Lavia
    Diallo
    JWP
    Adams
    Armstrong

Imagine it will be the same “try and keep it tight” mentality and see where we are about 60mins in, unless we conceded a couple early then we will change

We have five new signings to incorporate into the squad/first team and, as many hope, move to a back four as our default. Of course can expect change The team certainly doesn't pick itself.

That seems to be exactly the same approach as was cause for the initial disaster against Newcastle, with only one change in midfield. So I very much hope you’re wrong with this one. When we try and keep it tight, is when we’re at our most awful. Go at them. They’re beatable.

Yeah it is, and it is what I think we will try. The only logic I can apply is Brentford won’t be as up for it as Newcastle were with it being a cup semi so won’t come flying out as us as aggressively as Newcastle did in the first 20 mins.

I would much rather go for a back four and have a bit of a go, but can’t see that approach being taken in an away league game

One of those games where I make the opposition the favourites, but wouldn't be shocked at all if we got something.

Shame the game hasn't come along in another month or so. By then Brentford might have moved onto their early summer holidays. But right now, it's too early and they're right in the mix for a European place. (Maybe things will be different when we play them at home.)

Someone ought to tell him the odds on a Saints win are way better…
