I'm hearing you but not a full on signing. I'm just frustrated that we are in need for a couple just to balance things but we can't even make that happen.
So we have got rid of ...Thomas, loaned out Nico, Masterson, Shodipo. We have long term injuries Dykes, Roberts and goalie Walsh. We have injury prone...Amos, Johansen, Willock, Laird But bought in Lowe. We will be lucky to always name a full bench....we might see some kids on the bench. So let's have a count down...we have 39 points...4 wins will get us past 50 points. Can we do it
I guess folks are going to get their wish of seeing more of Armstrong granted. Balagoun still injured too, don't know how severe Paal's injury is either. Our squad is beyond threadbare. If Critchley keeps us mid-table it'll be a minor miracle.
The club clearly has zero ambition for success. I just don't understand their approach. The owners are having to contribute millions every month, but show no interest in improving the situation. What's the point? There must be something going on.
The hierarchy had no intention in dipping their toes in deadline day. They are gambling that we scrape through this season, and on paper and form that could be a close thing. The optimist in me is hoping that there is plans ahead to sell the club to someone with an ounce of ambition..The pessimist in me is thinking that this lot, hoos,Ferdinand,Bhatia etc etc couldn't run a corner shop and haven't a clue ..can somebody tell me what the point of a Director of Football is ???
3-4-1-2 Dieng Dickie-Dunne-JCS Kakay-Field-Stef-Richards Chair Lowe-Armstrong From fit players I think this is a decent line up, even Critchley couldn't mess this up!Not sure how Richards will go on as lwb however from the couple of minutes he has been given I think it could definitely work
From what I can see the Director of Football is the best job in football. No responsibility, no accountability, no one reviewing your contribution or your successes or failures. Nice salary, nice title and no risk of losing your job.
In this window Chelsea have outspent all the clubs in La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 - COMBINED. £288m (assuming the Fernandez deal goes through) to £190m for the 4 leagues. The PL overall spending was over £600m, but it’s the net spend - outlay after value of sales is deducted - of £542m which is truly shocking and baffling. Zombie economics, the application of alchemy to sport. The Trees have bought/loaned in 28 players since they were promoted. This madness has to stop.
So how do most of the other clubs get around it? If our owners really wanted to, surely it's not beyond them? No, they just lack the will and ambition to do it, which makes me ask why they're bothering to continue throwing their money in.
It's probably more that they now know what happens if the league decides to throw the book at you. In that context it makes sense we are more cautious. The FFP rules just seem designed to keep smaller clubs from getting any bigger. They are still investing in the new training facility so there is still good stuff happening but it'll be a long time before it bears fruit.
1. We haven't got as much income as most other Championship clubs, therefore they have more elbow room anyway. 2. Some of those other clubs have indeed been rumbled (Derby, anyone?), although we do seem to have been hit hardest financially. 3. And if you're hit with a multi-million pound fine, even if you're rich, you tend not to do it again, especially as, being serial transgressors, the likely fine would be even higher. 4. From where have you got the information that "most other clubs get around it"? Come on, Col, you're angry and not being logical. I'm as disappointed as you in the lack of much-needed action but I'm not going to criticise the shareholders for something which would be against the rules and is outside their control.
