Tonight was the last straw for me. I can't stand managers who don't show balls and go for it in the cup. We gifted Newcastle their place in the final with a totally negative approach from Jones, where his tactics were blatantly to stay in the game as long as possible. JONES OUT!
My issue isn't that we didn't go for it. It's that I think Jones thought we were set up to go for it.
I don’t see how 3 CB’s a defensive mid and a box to box midfielder is going for it. Back four, 2 CDM’s KWP and Perraud would have been going for it.
First half tactics killed us. Jones needs to realise and realise quickly that he hasn’t got the players to play his preferred formation. We are a back 4 team.
I don’t mind going in with the philosophy to keep it 0-0 and quieten the Newcastle fans down. However history shows that every time we start with 3 CBs we look even worse defensively than a back 4. Whether or not that would’ve mattered tonight (if we’d started with the system we played second half we may still have been over run as Newcastle started very fast and were good with the ball). We need to start with a back four for the rest of the season and see what happens
Also a bit confused how he likes to mention how he’s watched the tape of the games under Ralph, but then plays a back three of Lyanco, Bednarek and Salisu, which it was very apparent doesn’t work.
If SR want us to stay in the PL they need to get rid of Jones ASAP- I'm not sure on what metric they think he is achieving on, but I can't see any. Even if it were true that we are harder to beat (it's not) it's irrelevant if we are still losing. He was wrong for the club in November, he was wrong in December and January. Do they really think that he can turn this around? Disastrous appointment, and one that we will rue for a very long time. Great at powerpoint though so there is that. #jonesout
He literally doesn’t have a clue. Doesn’t seem to know who our best players are, what the best formation is. Insane appointment
Amidst all this vitriol and hatred for the man, I think it's good to share the video Mark Hudson posted of his kids' reactions when he got the Cardiff job and when he lost the Cardiff job. Presents an interesting insight to the human side of these things - Nathan Jones is still just a man, with a family, trying to do a job. He's almost certainly not a ****ing **** or an arsehole to them, and the hatred aimed at him by fans as he tries to manage his way through what is still his first handful of games in a new league is probably as tough for his family as it is for you to watch. They're infact probably quite proud of him! Not saying you can't have your view, or air it, but does show you the other side of these things. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CnfJ...d&ig_rid=522ba504-c588-4be3-a6cd-2039c98edbe0 I still feel your anger should be directed at SR - they hired him. You are relatively young, but maybe a blood pressure test is in order in the coming days.
We very often lose by one goal - including over these two legs against the richest, most in form club in the country - let's see how things go now he has a striker.
Yeah, a back three by itself it bad enough. But he compounds it by selecting arguably our three worse CBs (certainly in the case of Lyanco and Bednarek), and leaving out Perraud on the left, and taking KWP away from the right. Way to shoot yourself in both feet. He simply has to learn his lesson going into Saturday.
Striker won’t help when you set the team up as he did today. Strikers weren’t even in the game. He has no idea how important the middle of the park is
