Ultimately we didn’t deserve anything from that. It was a challenge and Newcastle are a good side, but Jones killed us with that absolutely honking starting line up, in a formation that hasn’t worked for us in years. Fair enough the subs worked and we improved, but only because it got us to where we should have started, we still created pretty much nothing bar a screamer and our other ‘striker’ getting one on one which is never going to be a goal. Bree debut and Bednarek return in the second leg of a semi final where we were a goal down, I genuinely think there are people on this board who could have sent out a better starting line up.
It's a forum where people are supposed to express views, your opinion is as valid as his, wind it in. None of us are that happy with the results. Let's just agree we need to stay up.
It was a response to this from Lincoln; I hope United absolutely trounce them in the final. Horrible club with deluded fan base
Thinking back, I attributed Adarma's missed chance as quick goalkeeping but, thinking back, Adam looked up before shooting and a fraction of a second was wasted. That's purely a matter of confidence. The moment strikers look up it's a doubt in their mind. If our new fella is up on confidence, those will be going in. Vin
Newcastle blew us away at the start. Combination of a change of shape and Newcastle just sitting on the Lead they had meant that we had a much better 2nd half, albeit with very little end product. The damage was done in the 1st half. Will Nathan Jones learn from this ?
I can hear the stampede down from the gantry to the Newcastle dressing room for their bukkake session from here. Will be curious to see which way the commentators will fall for the final - does their Man U love outweigh their Newcastle love? I won't be tuning in to find out.
diabolical 1st 20 minutes - when will we learn that this team cannot play 5 at the back, the opposition have the freedom of the park while we offer absolutely nothing
First 20 was just shocking but don’t think that was too bad over the 2 legs. Miles better than that ****e at home against them in the league. We are getting there. I don’t know where that is, but we are. Could’ve been a different game if Armstrong wasn’t a double agent.
Under Koeman it worked alright. But it involved Bertand playing as one of them, so not three actual CBs. And having Mane up front helped.
Not sure I can follow that thinking. Alcaraz was not the only issue with 5 at the back. Bree was ****, Diallo, JWP, Bednarek, Adams, nobody looked good everyone misplacing passes. The lineup and the formation was all wrong. If he starts with 4, with or without Alcaraz, we don't conceded those two early goals in my opinion. Anyway, game's over, no point disecting the whatifs.
Not exactly an easy place to get a result these days. Anyway, yeah, agree, what’s done is done. Still in the other cup
