Well today is the first time ever that I have written a post at 3:30pm on a Tuesday, hours before a cup semi final, whilst wearing these underpants. Stats like this and "the first time we have come from behind..." are truly meaningless and have no impact on what actually happens. Stats like we have lost the last 25 games at SJP are also meaningless as there are different circumstances in every game. That said if we win tonight and go through, I will class these as lucky underpants and will always post at 3:30pm before a game wearing them.
The trouble with this theory, TIOON7, is that afternoon games usually kick off by 3:00pm, so wearing your lucky underpants at 3:30pm may be too late. For all sorts of reasons...
My Geordie neighbour seems to be trying to soften the blow, if they win. He has brought 3 food parcels across in the last few days. He’s not happy with the way Murphy waved DCC off the pitch and recognises that it might give us the motivation to shove it down his throat. I did say that if we beat the odds and go through, I hope our players single him out and wave him off the pitch. And, if they win, I hope Murphy gets done, nothing too serious, just enough that he misses the final.
In a perfect world, it goes to penalties, DCC hammers his one home, then Murphy skies his penalty high over the bar, and the entire Saints squad, plus all the travelling fans, wave goodbye to the penalty, Murphy, and Newcastle. I can dream...
Call me crazy, and this may be the beer talking, but the closer this gets the more confident I'm feeling. This lot think they've done it. Survive the early onslaught and we've got a real chance here. Redd arrmmmyyyyy
Just spoke to a Geordie old boy who said he's worried about this exact scenario. So far all the older Geordies are nervous as **** whereas the young lads are all saying 2/3-0 home win. Let's hope we prove tonight that older is wiser!
Watching Frannie B from St James Park on Sky atm...I get a feeling he truly believes that we will get something tonight. I do too. Just seems too 'easy' for Newcastle.
