Sorry yes I was focusing purely on striker. But we do ideally need both. Especially considering the decision to loan out Matete (which I still endorse)

Did Speakman not say he was happy with 2 players for every position on the pitch in the summer?

Methil and Leven are typical of places which have been left to die ...

... the people are great but they're f**ked and they know they are.

As in you wouldn’t take any player that they’ve signed or you wouldn’t spend the money that they have for said player? If the former then that’s a ridiculous statement.

I can vouch for that, have lived in Anstruther, now live in Lundin Links and play golf at Crail.
It’s a very nice part of the world.

Worst case scenario is we bring nobody in, finish towards the top of the bottom half, and the likes of Dan Neil, Michut, Ekwah, Ba, Hume, Ballard, Alese, Cirkin, Patterson have a whole year of Championship football behind them, heading into a new season with Ross Stewart back in training and ready to attack the league from a far greater position than we did this season

The only thing we can lose is the relatively small chance we have of promotion this season. Which is something we never achieved, so we aren't losing anything. And frankly if signing "any old striker" is the difference between promotion and no promotion I'll eat my hat.

The one thing we can all be sure of is that the club and recruitment team aren't intentionally sitting their thinking one striker is enough. They'll just not want to jeopardise future seasons.

That said, and as I said above, I would suggest we should be willing to bring in a player we otherwise wouldn't, to help the team do what they can to try to achieve promotion this season. But only if its at an acceptable, manageable cost.

We currently have more attacking threat than we've had for years imo.

We were never going to get a direct replacement for Stewart in only 3 days

You can have 5 loan players in your matchday squad. Stoke have just sent a few back and loaned 3 different players. Burnley have 5 in their squad every matchday.

If we don’t get anybody else in I am comfortable with things as they are. It means that the club are not being pushed into silly last minute deals, in a season when the objective has always been to consolidate in this league with a very joint team, who will be much better next year , but would struggle if we went up. If we do go up we would have change our recruitment policy and bring in some more experienced players and that could rock the boat.

I was always happy to wait another year for promotion and see if we could have a good cup run.

Spot on, as a newly promoted club, in no danger of a relegation fight at the minute, think we’ve done well. It’s the potential opportunity missed that seems to be the issue for a lot of people, we’re close to the playoffs and that’s stirred up the aspirations in a few.

There seems to be no urgency to plug the gap left by Rossco

I would like a physical Centre forward like Simms for an option.
But you're right a fluid front line of Clarke, Geldhart, Amed and Roberts would scare the life out of teams.
And we have the new young lad Lihadji
