Both yellows on Bajcetic were harsh especially with all that was going on in those games. He looks to be very competent and level headed so it shouldn't affect his confidence. It's mad that we're relying on a 19 year old in midfield but as I've said before, since Klopp came he's always wanted to work with what he has. We could do with Morton in there as well. I also thought Nunez should have started. We've rarely put a new signing straight in and Gakpo (so far) hasn't got off to a flyer.
First one was. didn't even give him a warning. second one in fairness probably was fair but ref went of waving at random spots in park bajcetic didn't even foul in. as if to say that justifies booking someone for a yellow card offence. I think klopp is managing trent and nunez as neither is 100% just my theory anyway
We aren't making many tackles per game as it is so when a young lad comes in and to my mind puts in clean tackles only to be punished it makes it look like we're not tackling for that very reason. It's outrageous the amount of times Salah particularly but not exclusively gets fouled, thrown and pulled and all those 'challenges' go unpunished but the minute we tackle it's jumped on - Fab's horror one aside. It's really hard not to be a conspiracy theorist some times.
there's a very good sky sports where has it all gone wrong set of stats on the sky sports site today they love where has it gone wrong for lfc. Two years ago they were all over it as well. the stats are fairly stark across the board. interestingly they agree with my comment about back passingal and safe play as the passes in final 3rd are way down and safe touches round the back are up. they have stats on goals scored and xg and all that stuff and goals conceded etc.
sorry but fabinhos was not a horror tackle. it was a poor challenge but lacked the force it could have had. I find that a bit of propaganda we shouldn't be repeating for the press and hacks. it was poor it nailed the kid but come on. Robertson absolutely nailed macallister when studs right on ankle. yellow. not a word after. I think first half there was another similar studs on ankle and bajcetics was studs in too. fabinho bit twice at the kid and the second on was a fair kop. nailed the kid right on the back of heel but there's still no force there and that's saved this lad from more serious injury. I'd not argue against a red there but it's a yellow and var didn't see it as more than that to over turn flrefs opinion. horror tackle is terms people with agenda against us are using.
Step up to what? Nunez's record is actually decent and ahead of most other players at the same stage of their Liverpool careers. People are blinded by the missed chances. I'll moan when he's no longer getting the chance to miss them.
Bajcetic likes very promising but I'm not getting carried away, been there before. Jones looked like he could become top quality at one point, he's merely a squad filler now unfortunately.
I suppose stepping up to the level of a prime salah, like a massive breakout superstar. When you hear nunez nunez nunez as he stands on the sideline coming on... well, you expect more than decent. I agree with you, at least he's getting chances
I didn't want to watch the FA Cup draw but my fella (who isn't into footie ) said, 'Well, don't listen.' How many times was it pointed out Brighton knocked us out??! Was that really necessary?
Scots would call us all southern softies But then again some viking ****s would call them southern softies. I guess the only man who's truly northern is santa
What made it a horror tackle for me was watching it back and seeing the bend of the lad's ankle coupled with Fab's immediate reaction. Overall I thought the dramatics of the Brighton players was completely ott. MacAllister was shocking in his antics. I also thought that VAR can't upgrade a yellow on the field, it only looks at straight reds according to IFAB.
They reviewed it at the time and decided not to take action. (PGMOL have now privately admitted that it should have been red.) There's been several cases of yellows being upgraded; I think the foul that injured Elliot was one? Though they can only ask the ref to look at it again on the screen and then it's down to him; they don't decide for him.
I’d want the player gone if it was the other way round, was a red card imo. Ironically we probably would’ve shoved 10 behind the ball and still been in the draw if he had gone!

I watch with no sound so have no idea what is being VAR checked unless play stops and the ref does that holding his ear thing. The Elliott injury had Pawson as ref who let play go on. Salah's reaction brought the ref over and presumably at that point and only at that point VAR was in his ear. Had Salah and the surrounding players not looked so shocked, Stuijk (spl) would have got away with it.
You must feel like this quite a lot because it happens in our games all the time with opponents getting away with all sorts.
