Everything was a bit frantic in the first half, but we got the ball down and played a bit better in the second half. Our cause wasn't helped by Emma Kelly failing a late fitness test, Neve Herron having to go to the eye infirmary after an early challenge and Emily Scarr playing despite having a thigh problem.. They bossed the game, but we battled admirably. Strangely for a Sunderland team, we scored from a corner and looked dangerous from a couple of other set-pieces. I was impressed by the blonde lass who replaced Jess Brown. Tanya, I think they call her. Looked very lively when she came on. No disgrace losing 2-1 to that Man Utd team.
She was gutted when she failed the fitness test, understandably. It was a battling performance with some excellent defending. Man Utd were very good.
