And yet if he is available, it seems pretty unlikely that of all the PL clubs that need a striker, that he would come here.
I want to be really excited by this news. But based on recent history, it is seemingly going to go one of two ways. Either: 1. Everton or Bmouth come in and outbid us. Or 2. No deal gets over the line before the transfer window shuts, and we say that we really tried blah blah blah
The transfer window is closing a day too early for us. After winning tomorrow it would be nice to dangle a Wembley final in front of a prospective signing.
Depends on how flexible the other teams are. Not many teams would want to sign a player on a 6 month deal - I think that's how we can get ahead of the crowd. Pay Lyon a few million and give Dembele a good wage plus incentives in how many he scores and if we stay up. Dembele is probably already eyeing up free agency in the summer - it can prove very lucrative. So don't take that away from him. Come on SR, think short term here.
No I haven’t . You have to understand FFP though. We are only allowed to increase our wage budget by a certain amount each year. End of. It is not related to the transfer fee part at all so there is no contradiction In addition Transfer fees can be much more easily fiddled with using accounting as chelsea are proving. But you are not prepared to accept that signing Mara does not impact things - even though we were still looking at bids of around 35m for different players in the summer. I’m not sure what is hard to get. Those players either aren’t available for those fees now or don’t want to come for fairly obvious reasons. But buying some other players is not one of them
I can’t see how they could possibly get both if the combined fees come to close to 70m. But who knows anymore. Others seem to play by different rules (seems a little like when arsenal really took the financial rules seriously because they thought they would be strictly enforced)
What exactly is the punishment for breaching FFP anyway? No Europe? A fine? Transfer ban? Points deduction? If it’s the first three then Everton surely won’t care about breaking it if it helps ensure their safety, only a points deduction would be a deterrent
Makes sense for Everton to try for multiple targets. Increases your chances of getting someone over the line. Whereas if you go all-in on one target only, and fail to get them when the window closes. Well...
Please note ‘might’! Anyway, he’s a West Ham signing if ever I saw one. Four billion a week for six months.
Yeah ok. Wasn’t he reluctant to come here in the summer? Will definitely want to come here now we’re bottom and relegation favourites
They are under tight premier league regulations at the moment and any spending would need to be approved by the PL by guaranteeing that they will stay within FFP
£3m - 'kin ell - watch everyone else bid for him now. https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/...ssa-dembele-southampton-transfer-bid-26110193
