Unfortunately, it's results that count and we're just not getting them. There were sparks from Gakpo and Bajetic, but today was the same old story overall: poor defending, poor passing, poor finishing. This squad isn't stepping up to the plate and that's a fact
but it's still better. can't go from zero to hero in 1 minute. it takes work.and improvement (and dropping players)
I think Fabinho who we can now say should probably be on his way out. Don't know what has happened to him, but he has been dreadful all season and was a waste of a sub today. Frankly he should have had a Red. It was a terrible tackle.
it was poor but there was no force in it for the ref to make that call. var looked at it and didn't call it a clear and obvious error so the refs on field call was vital
Well konate might say that too but I couldn't possibly comment. in the end he didn't plough in he tagged him twice. it's marginal and why the ref wasnt asked to look at it again
Yes... But... This season was foreshadowed while we were winning games last season. We were winning games we were second best in, the team just had the belief we could turn anything around. Let's be honest, we were playing crap and collection three points week after week. That was unsustainable. Clubs feared us too much while we were crap. It shouldn't really be a surprise how bad we are, we got plenty of glimpses the direction we were heading even while winning. Current trends show improvement even if we're still losing. The vectors point to us returning to winning ways in the future. Too late for silverware. Too late for top four, but we're trending upwards. I'm still sticking with my preseason prediction of 5th or 6th (although leaning more towards 6th now). We've seen the worst.
What future? 30 years hence? How come the likes of bloody City can keep on and on? They played just as hard last season and most of the players we had on the pitch then have hardly been on it this, that's why I'm refusing to buy the tired argument. We were supposed to have been back. It didn't last very long, did it? Even united are back to winning ways and I didn't have Arsenal down as being top of the league. I'm not saying we should win week after week, but what is happening weekly is now becoming Groundhog Day. I'm finding it hard to see where the next win is coming from. And improvement? We still can't defend, still can't pass, still can't finish. If that's improvement, you can keep it.
City had options like Laporte, Dias, Walker etc on their bench when they beat Arsenal. We have Nat Phillips, Ox etc. FSG have not invested enough in our squad, we were good in the seasons where we had a stable first eleven, look at the year we had no CBs because they would not invest and we had a serious injury to VVD and Matip. We did not invest in midfield last Summer, we are not investing now and that is why we are where we are
it is improving and will improve further. we delivered 2 cups and a few millimeters from a quadruple after the singular worst 2 months in the clubs history the year prior. it's not that bad, honestly.
They have just "invested" in three attackers to replace one (your managers choice), they invested in record buys for a CB and keeper. If Klopp had chosen to replace Mane with one player and asked for two midfielders who aren't mummified you may have still been doing ok.
Never does under Klopp, builds a good team and runs them into the ground then is clueless on getting them back up so ****s off.
90% of current defensive issues is failure to clear properly. the amount of times we see really ****ty defensive headers that go straight down rather than getting a good header away. their first comes directly from that. then we see Robertson fail 3 times to get the ball 2 yards up the park. their last second corner comes from konate diving in to block another poor effort from gomez to clear. it really is basic. 90% of attacking issues is players being pussy. trent never.once opened his body to control and pass forward. he wasn't expecting salah to be there or have a channel run so he made sure he was closed off to pass back someone must have got in gakpos head during the week cos he refused 3 shots that should have gone in. milner had an opportunity to cross and put his foot on ball and went backwards. salahs tame effort off target off left foot. it's all the same fear of failure leading to timid failure.
