From a tactical standpoint having Porro and Emerson as the RWBs makes perfect sense, in much the same way Poch tactically rotating Rose and Davies at LB did LWB is the issue because, while Udogie is the obvious first-choice going forward, the problem is that Sessegnon's game is too similar to Udogie's to offer a tactical advantage while Perisic is obviously a short-term option - and we really shouldn't be asking ben Davies to play LWB
In other news, letting Porro stay to play in the Taca de Liga final is working out brilliantly Porto scored in the first ten minutes and Sporting have had two approaches ever since: running into a brick wall, and kicking that brick wall when things don't work out Again, this is why I don't rate Amorim as a potential future coach
I don’t see Conte being manager next season. Hoping the new coach will use the likes of Gil, Spence, Udogie, Sarr and Skipp. With a few years experience and progression, they could all be very good players.
...well now that's over, somebody bundle Porro on a plane to Hotspur Way and let's get this sorted Tell him he can shower when he gets there, just to be safe
Some of those probably won’t wanna take the chance he won’t be manager and I wouldn’t blame them, I can definitely see Gil pushing for a move in the next couple days, especially with his old club interested, albeit doesn’t sound like they’ve got the funds for a permanent deal. I can also see Brentford coming in with another bid for Spence and if I were him I’d really push for it too. Porro’s arrival will just further demote him as he’ll be fourth choice for a spot where only one can play and you can almost be certain we won’t sell the other two donkeys over the summer, one’s nailed on to stay. I think Skipp will give us til the summer and then make a decision, if Conte does stay I think he’ll ask for a way out. Wasn’t even gonna come on when he did today as the commentator mentioned it was gonna be Hojbjerg, but I once Son got his second looks like Conte changed his mind and gave Hojbjerg the night off. Absolute ****show the way he’s “managed” the promising youth, ****show in general this season to be honest.
Loans out would be ok I guess as they won’t get minutes in the league unless Conte has no other options but I’m hoping the club don’t sell them on permanent deals. Conte’s is all about the here and now which would be fine but the club aren’t Man City or Chelsea and can’t sign the top quality ready made stars so I’m not sure why he was ever appointed Spurs manager as it’s just a mess and careers are being wasted.
I’d definitely prefer to loan them but I’m just trying to see it from their perspectives. We’re a graveyard for young talent these days and they won’t be oblivious to that. Spence and Skipp are 22, Gil will be next month. 22’s an age in football where you’re considered a young player but also want to be establishing yourself in your team. None of these players are anywhere close to establishing themselves here under Conte. We’ve just brought in Danjuma who further pushes Gil down the pecking order (especially if we make it a perm in summer), Porro’s inbound and we keep getting linked to CMs. Their situations are literally worsening by the day. If I were in any of their shoes I’d be handing in a request to get out ASAP. There are considerably poorer calibre players of similar ages to them playing week in, week out in the Prem and other top European leagues.
Some of the semi competent insiders are of the opinion Gil to Sevilla on a loan to buy is a goer. Does tie in with recent reports from Rom and others that he’s Sampioli’s first choice target. Good luck to him if true, get out while you can, pal.
Bild claim we’ve made a verbal bid of €25m for Piero Hincapie of Leverkusen. I initially thought that sounded far too low for one of the most promising CBs in Europe at the moment. There are then rumours elsewhere that Leverkusen value him close to €80m. Yep, I know, few days left of the window so gotta get that “we tried” story going.
I was thinking this earlier too. There have been far more of his fingerprints over this window than the previous two. And with Paratici no doubt highly distracted by the ongoing legal case in Italy, it's not at all surprising.
Remember back at the start of the window he was talked up as a summer signing we were getting the framework in place for now
